[New Life+]’s Anime's Protagonist, Novel Creator Cause Controversy in China

Seeing stuff like this makes me think if you start to become well known it might be a good idea to just delete your twitter account in case you said something controversial when you were a nobody.

Let me fix that for you:
it might be a good idea to just delete your social media accounts -
The problem is that, having gotten a "win", the attackers will continue to assault anyone they think is vulnerable. They didn't just get an apology from MINE, they made him unmarketable. That's probably more than they thought they'd get.
One win, time to double down. Expect more organized complaints against anyone who has said anything bad in their life.
Such is the folly of "Social Media". Take a lesson from it.
(It isn't just racism, either - China has been on a big campaign for the last several years to punish anyone who uses un-approved phraseology to refer to territories China claims. Airlines have been threatened with losing their license to fly to any city in China if they use "Taiwan" on their websites. )

@fozzedout I only use my social media stuff to DM family and talk to the other staffers for the anime convention I work for. I just went through and deleted every single comment I had ever made on all platforms after the New Life stuff happened.
-
The scary thing is I don't think even deleting it will help you - someone with an axe to grind and a bit of time can find almost anything archived on the internet somewhere. It's no joke when they say the internet is forever.
I never had much faith in humanity, but lately what little I did have has gone up in smoke.
-
@flarecde I am glad that when I was a stupid kid "posting" on the internet didn't exist yet. All I did was access ftps and download shareware games.
You can dig up some kind of ...interesting... things I've done in the past (a dance dance revolution FAQ?) but nothing that would get me in trouble I don't think.

Shockgasp!* Not dance dance revolution!
JNC scandal alert! -
@sam-pinansky You forgot the olden times where you were an admin for a hentai translation group. Tsetse.
-
This post is deleted! -
@jampodevral I'm not sure what @saskir is talking about, I think he's making a joke of somesort. I was in charge of Arienai fansubs but we never did hentai.
-
@sam-pinansky ahhh the Shaggy Defence! "It wasn't me" 😆
-
@sam-pinansky I mean, as a huge fan of Precure, knowing that about Arienai fansubs just makes me even more happy to support you and JNC.
-
Next time I add /s at the end. Yeah it was a joke
-
I knew Sam was part of a anime ft group, just not which. So it wouldn't have suprised me no matter what content it was for.
-
@jampodevral Hey let's be clear here, I cofounded and ran a fansub group. I wasn't just some member, heh.

Shouldn't "successful" have been a part of that statement?
-
@rahul-balaggan Define a "successful" fansub group...
-
@sam-pinansky If you made a difference to those who sought entertainment.
-
@sam-pinansky J-Sub Club?
-
@sam-pinansky One which is proficient in the language they are translating into and not a group who pops up, translates 3 episodes and then say 'Meh, fuck it, too much work'
