That Time I was Reincarnated as a Slime volume 4 discussion.

So volume 4 came out recently and I wanted to start up a discussion. Since it’s about v4 anyone who hasn’t read the previous volumes and is currently just watching the anime I would recommend staying away from this discussion so it doesn’t spoil anything for you.
I finished volume 4 and since I also recently read “So what I’m a spider” LN it felt super weird I guess I was use to the struggle trying to stay alive tone that spider LN gave off. Also since the anime made Gobta just as funny as he is in the LN, some parts with Gobta made me chuckle in this volume. Specially when his crew member Gobzo I think was his name screwed Rimaru over with Shion and Shuna. He sold them out. Other than that it left us with a cliffhanger and I don’t wanna wait until April. Luckily Spider v5 comes out March so it won’t feel as bad waiting I guess. I recommend this LN to some friends since they liked the anime.
Rimaru leaving with out his main party felt kinda weird as well and definitely changed the tone. But since he left with the adventurer group it kept its funny tone and they are all so goofy at times. Also finding out Leon was a actually a reincarnation wasn’t so surprising for me at least.

That cliffhanger is a killer one... having to wait all the way to April to see the resolution of it, it just feels so far away. It's more annoying know that in Japan, they released Vol. 5 a month after Vol. 4, so they didn't have the wait that we get.
Other than that, I enjoyed the different feel that this one had. No real impending doom for most of the book, at least that Rimuru could see anyway.
One thing i'm really looking forward to finding out in the future is what is the deal with the spirit that went into the last child, and what impact that has in the future. -
@timmaaah yeah the wait is going to suck specially after v5. Hopefully other series get licensed and are similar to slime.
I wanna know what unique power the Hero who saved Shizu had. Since we find out most reincarnations have a broken power. -

@zing did you read spider LN? I’m a spider so what? If not you should read that.

@hyferzftw Yup, love it, looking forward to the next volume. Reading grimgar, halfway through volume 4 now. I find it be kinda depressing, if something good ever happens it ends up being offset by a ton of crap. Not to mention, there is zero comedy, makes you wonder how the hell the character stay SANE in their current situation if they dont get to laugh, ever.
-
@zing i think v5 or 6 have a bit of comedy I forgot which one and also v12 is full of it. I haven't started 13 yet but plan to once the first 3 parts are out. Grimgar is the reason I subbed to JNC and been a premium member ever since JNC licensed it too.

Of all the books I've read so far, Grimgar is by far my least favourite. At the moment I am reading it because 1) stubborn, 2 am curious about romantic development between two certain characters. But after spoiling myself a little, it looks like I have to wait until volume 10 for it to go somehwere. Grimgar is just so depressing, heck, I cant even think of any other light novel that is more depressing. Well, maybe some parts of Steven Kings Dark Tower were pretty bleak, but not 4 volumes in a row kind of bleak.
/Rant over.Still looking forward to continuation of Rimurus adventures, cant wait for Veldora to make a comeback, but I suppose that is ways off. Veldora seems to be super powerful being, at least everybody is weary of him, makes me wonder if author is planning to somehow de-power Veldora before bringing him back

@zing that’s the same depress feeling I get whenever I watch a Studio Trigger anime. I always am scared of watching the next airing episode to find out a character I liked ended up dying. Grimgar gives me the same feelings which I hate and love at the same time. Death is the best punishment and really essential for me to liking a series. I like it when there are consequences for making a mistake. Yeah Grimgar is brutal in that aspect and it shows it a lot. Slime is a odd one to me as there hasn’t been any significant deaths but like it because of how it’s told and how mature the MC acts.

@hyferzftw The last anime I watched that was related to trigger was Darling in the Franx and I regretted that decisions for every episode. But then again, stubborn.
Well, for Grimgar, living is the best punishment, death is sweet release. Lack of death has no impact on enjoyment of a series for me, but that is just my opinion. I am fine with people dying as long as it has some meaning. I think the only time when I got upset about death was in Overlord volume 7, but that is discussion for another time. Slime is pretty fun all round story, it didnt get any better or worse after Shizue died. If anything, her death came too sudden, it felt hollow, manga did it better, in my opinion. I read slime mostly for the sake of seeing how MC one-upping everyone else.
