Average Abilities anime adaptation
-
FUNA is popular, however there's been some disturbing rumors floating about the adaptation of her most popular series Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!:
Premiere Report - Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! (ANN)Truth to be told, I very much was looking forward to this. Unfortunately, reading this and the comment thread, my expectations have just fallen off a steep cliff. Did FUNA have any oversight at all, or did they simply steamroll over her?

I'd say at least wait to watch it before you decide it's the end of the world. If you saw that your favorite food had really low reviews, would that bother you? In the end, you like what you like, and other people might not like the same thing. This reviewer doesn't seem to read the LNs and actively dislikes the main draw of the series (cute girls), so are you really going to trust that their review accurately reflects whether or not you'll like it?
-
I would say to just watch it for yourself and decide weather the adaption is good or not. To be honest, ANN has lost all credibility for me, so I don't usually listen to a word they say anymore.
-
@timmaaah Agreed they've really gone downhill.
-
Oh, we already got more info on the anime? Shit, looks like I'm a month behind on news, but I remember there being basically radio silence on this series for over a year!
So both Bookworm and Average Abilities are this fall, eh? Looks like all the new isekai for Fall 2019 star female leads?
-
@timmaaah media in general has lost it’s credibility to me but real talk ANN is pretty bad

This post is deleted! -
When I read it my first thought was essentially "ah fuck" until I remembered it was ANN. I'm still a bit worried as the criticisms raised to bring to mind that they're diverting from the source material in a less than stellar way if true but I haven't given up yet and I strongly doubt this will be the next Arifureta

The author of the review posted a comment with this to say:
@JacobC
For what it's worth, I now remember that the character was called "Mile" in the episode. When looking stuff up about the show to write about it, I saw the name Adele and used it, but now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure they all call her Mile. She doesn't meet the other three girls AT the academy, they're all going to attend together in the future? I think. She meets them randomly in the street throughout the episode, and they find Pauline in particular by rescuing her from the bad guys who have been kidnapping children. But they haven't started attending school yet, I think she's just an aspiring adventurer who works at an inn or is just staying at one or—look, I watched this two weeks ago now, so some information is gonna slide out of my brain. -
@legitpancake Well thats confusing, our main character doesn't take the name Mile until at least halfway into the first book. I think this might be a case of the anime really wanted to introduce all of the main cast in the first episode even if it doesn't really make sense to do so. It wouldn't surprise me now if episode 2 is the first episode chronologically.

@eternal-wanderer The anime is probably following the manga's format. Showed a bit of Adele period, before jumping to adventurer's school. This is probably, as you said, to introduce all the main cast as fast as possible, without boring people with mundane school-life stuff.
-
@eternal-wanderer yeah,Youjo Senki was made this way too
-
ANN? Lmao, I trust fan fiction creators more than them.
-
@chrollo agreed
-
First 6 minutes streamed on YouTube, although no subs yet. https://youtu.be/Qz0FJ33W41U
-
So... Are they skipping the setup to get her started at the second academy earlier? Think we'll go back to it?
-
Oh no one licensed this for streaming? That is makes me a little sad.
-
@terrence If you check out the manga, they do the same thing. They skip to the Adventurer School, and then recap the Academy arc through Mile's flashbacks while talking to her team.

@crimson-wise Thank you. Thought it wasn't with what people were saying in this thread. I didn't see it on crunchyroll, are they not doing simulcast?
I've read the books and I think this is one my kids could watch.
