Updating card info
Hi there. My card just expired so it seems my premium membership got cancelled. How can I update it avoiding getting double billed?
@Student-no.0 there is an option in your account status page to update your credit card any time!
It also shows you your current account status. I need to implement email reminders about failed payments though.
I was putting it off since it wasn't going to be an issue for many people at first but I think it's time.
@Student-no.0 I'm not sure what you mean avoid getting double billed. If the membership was cancelled that means that the system already tried to bill you 3times and failed. You can just sign up for another subscription.
@Sam-Pinansky What if my card expires before the month (or 30 days) ends? Will I have to pay another $insert payment amount within those 30 days?
There's a big button there for "update card" where you can enter a new credit card. This is the new card that will be used the next time you're billed, it doesn't charge anything to the card until the next renewal.
Basically we keep the information for 1 credit card at a time. If it's going to expire change it before the renewal date and it'll use the new card instead from then on.
@Sam-Pinansky Thanks, but I don't see that button anywhere at all. It's as if my subscription got cancelled before the month ended.
@Student-no.0 Yes, looking at your payment history, it seems like your bank declined the charge for your second month on 2/11. We tried recharging again on the 14th, 19th, and 26th but each time the bank declined the charge. After the 3rd retry the system cancels your account (it showed "payment due" since Feb 11th.)
This seems to happen often with prepaid cards which are not from the US...
I'd contact your bank to see why it declined the charges. It's possible that they automatically block recurring payment-type charges on prepaid cards.
If you re-subscribe now, you'll be charged immediately since you never actually paid for 2/11+ (you paid for 1/11-2/11). Note, your premium credits are still valid though (you actually got one extra than you should have on 2/15 but... meh, you can keep it).
@Sam-Pinansky Ah! Could've been that I didn't recharge the pre-paid card with enough cash. I'll be sure to handle that later. Thanks!
