New Website Feedback
-
@nofairytale interesting, dind't know the beta app has this feature. As I avoid anything called beta in my phone as it is also necessary for my work I did not look much at the thread about it.
-
I don't know what's been said, but here are my thoughts on the beta website:
- incredibly cluttered. It's not that there is too much information (in fact, I think very little info is presented), it's just that nothing in particular draws my eyes so I have nothing to focus on. Plus the nature of light novel titles is that the covers are so bright and colorful already... it's just very busy
- I think the animated banner adds to the clutter. It also makes the whole site feel like an ad
- Since there's an option to 'follow' a series, it would be nice for the front page to show me the series that I'm following. At least, for members, it should show the "latest updates" in prepubs like the current site does, even if it isn't filtered
-
If gets increasingly annoying that I have to manually reload the library for new books to appear, not sure if it's just me. I get it's a small thing, but I keep forgetting and with a library that keeps getting bigger, I keep getting more confused as I have to search for that new book.
-
I can’t read anything when I click on 'read now' it just sends me to '404 this page can not be found' even for series I read just a few hours ago...
-
@Lapoule Could you please post the link that is 404-ing for you?
-
When accessing the site in Safari, even after clearing JNC cookies from my cache, it automatically directs me to the old site. The new site also doesn't open the reader in Safari — it does so in Chrome, though.
-
@chocolatkey For example https://j-novel.club/titles/welcome-to-japan-ms-elf-manga links to https://j-novel.club/read/welcome-to-japan-ms-elf-manga-volume-1-chapter-1 which 404s
EDIT: Likewise https://j-novel.club/titles/the-magician-who-rose-from-failure links to https://j-novel.club/read/the-magician-who-rose-from-failure-volume-2-part-1 and 404s
EDIT: It works now. // EDIT: Or does it.
-
@chocolatkey well, for example this (https://j-novel.club/read/ascendance-of-a-bookworm-part-3-volume-4-part-1) gives me this instead (https://j-novel.club/404). But I just read it a few hrs ago.
EDIT: But yeah, as I said before I tried with other series and same occurrence
EDIT:
It loads but no text. Just a grey stuff even after a few minutes.nvm, it’s still 404 XD -
Low priority, but switching between reading manga and novel the UI element that tells you if it's ltr or rtl gets stuck on the previous value sometimes. I can't reproduce it consistently. https://i.imgur.com/lvKs06d.png https://i.imgur.com/fTarj9Q.png
-
@Nosgoroth This should be fixed, can you try again?
-
-
It would be nice if there was a follow/unfollow button for each title in the Titles section, instead of having to individually click into each series to follow/unfollow, or to even find out whether or not I'm currently following it.
-
A "Follow Status" filter in the Titles section like there is in the Calendar section.
And also some text size/spacing options in the new reader, but that was already mentioned in the OP.
Thanks.

Is there any reason the website uses its own dark mode system, instead of the @media query?
-
@myskaros Yeah, I can't get it to happen again. However, I keep getting 404s randomly when trying to access the readers. It could be that it's being worked on right now, though.
-
I CTRL + F5 'd and I'm not getting a single 404 on any of the links people are posting. Everything seems to work fine! 😃
-
The first three covers on the front page are so large that they make me feel super claustrophobic on 1280x800(@2x) https://i.imgur.com/gioa7Zh.jpg and even more so on 1280x720(@2x) https://i.imgur.com/hVRmiAd.jpg I even have to scroll perfectly to be able to see the whole thing. Please media query that?
-
I’m on mobile (iPhone SE, 13.7), and everything is giving me 404 errors - the stuff in my library, the stuff on catchup, the stuff in the calendar. Though maybe I should update my software lol.
-
@MasterLillyclaw Nah, iOS 13.7 shouldn't be causing you trouble with this.
-
Also low priority. On the front page header, it's probably a good idea to make the animated graphic respond to
@media (prefers-reduced-motion)
. -
@MasterLillyclaw Yea I'm also getting 404's on my iPhone 8 chrome (and on my iPad 7 on Safari) when I go to any prepubs and their read pages. Most other pages work just fine though.
Also, please add a "Followed titles" checkmark to the Titles page, I feel it would be much more useful there rather than just in the calendar.
Also also, I liked having upcoming/just released prepubs in the front page of the old website, so having to click calendar to see them now is annoying.
-
I hate it.
