Alternate titles: My One Mission as a Guy in a Girl's Game World, 男子禁制ゲーム世界で俺がやるべき唯一のこと, Yurihasa
Author: Ryo Hazakura
Artist: hai
Publisher: Kadokawa (MF Bunko J)
Volumes: 2 (ongoing)Synopsis: One day, a massive yuri fan (who is male, mind you) dies and reincarnates into one of his favorite yuri games, which he had played exhaustively due to its soulful design and plethora of endings. As an immense lover of yuri, reincarnating into one of his favorite yuri games should have been bliss... but he reincarnated as the one male character, Hiiro, who in the video game is there just to get in the way of the yuri and has a major role in most bad endings. Cue hijinks as he tries to use his game knowledge to ensure that the bad endings are all avoided and the heroines are safe, only to accidentally make them fall in love with himself instead.
Comments:
I'm going to be completely honest with you, I hadn't heard about this LN until like thirty minutes ago, when r/lightnovels had a recommendation post authored by none other than Quof themselves.
I'll admit, the concept of a yuri fan falling into a yuri game and unintentionally making all the girls fall for him is definitely a tough sell. But when the person who is translating through the labyrinthine work that is The Ascendence of a Bookworm says that Funny Yuri Harem LN is on the same level as Re:Zero or Mushoku Tensei, I have to trust their judgement.
Of course, if you DO decide to license this, I know the perfect person to help translate it.
-
Oh @Quof recommended this? You have my interest...
-
It's in my top 5 WNs alongside Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei, though I wouldn't expect everyone who likes those two to like this one. Those two are universally appealing from the ground up, while this one will pick its audience more with its concept. However, those who buy into the work and stick around will be immensely rewarded in my opinion. It just gets better and better into ridiculous levels.
-
It's an harem isekai, which is usually enough to make me interested, but I'm worried that due to the premise the protagonist is going to actively prevent any progress between him and the girls.
-
I like the idea of a male harem protagonist who actively tries to prevent or avoid romance. Usually it's only female villainess protagonists who try to kick down romance flags. If this is that kind of villainess comedy but gender swapped, I'm in. (If it goes down either of the typical harem paths (with him either actively pursuing it or being dense but welcoming it when the women take the initiative.)
I guess if you add my vote and @Lex's vote together, it ends up with a total of exactly +1 no matter which way the coin lands.

KADOKAWAanime (Youtube channel) has entries related to this series...
MAL and ANN have no entries.
It looks to be the author's first LN release.
The illustrator has another series they're involved with according to Bookwalker; their Twitter account confirms this.
The WN is complete in 340 parts. Narou Item ID: n1375hg
It sounds like an interesting concept if developed properly, and if @Quof is recommending it I'm willing to take that as a given.

How many LN volumes would that be, approximately?

Dunno.
Someone would need to pull up the bookwalker previews for the first two LN volumes and compare the chapter titles to those shown in the Narou ToC to get a feel for how many WN chapters there are to the LN volumes.
I'm not feeling like doing that just now; not reading Japanese makes it an interesting challenge in character identification between the top-to-bottom text of the Japanese LN and the right-to-left text of the WN...I've done it before, and will doubtless do it again, but not just now.A bunch.
Rather more than two. -
@Geezer-Weasalopes WN is not complete. The author also has other books out I think, but under his pen name とまとすぱげてぃ. He's very prolific.
@Torka Vol 1 ends at Chapter 28 of the WN. A naïve division gives us 12 volumes to catch up to what's out so far.

Gack.
I got sloppy, trusted a quick [translate the whole page] on the PDFnovel record rather than just the relevant character string and then didn't realize what it had actually told me...it would seem very unlikely that they would have posted the last section ten days ago in the first place!
I know better.Under the other name [which is shown on Narou...], 外面だけは完璧なコミュ障冒険者、Sランクパーティーでリーダーになる has an LN and Manga adaptation under serialization in a magazine?
At least it shows up on the Pocket Shonen Magazine site as well as inside Comic REX on Amazon Japan.
The Shonen site has it through 【第16話(2)】 currently, which I think would be Chapter 16 Part 2?MAL does have an entry for him under that name... Tomato Spaghetti

Volume 3 came out in Japan last month.
-
just came out in Japan.
-
Aaaaaaaaand it got seventh place in the KimiRano Best Light Novel award for 2023 (in the Bunkobon division)
-
Volume 5 came out in Japan last month. So this series is solidly stable now. Which means it's on my wishlist and JNC will probably announce it Friday.
-
@Aruseus493 A question. What makes you think they will announce it tomorrow?
Anyway, it looks quite good. But I’d rather wait and see.
-
It's a joke. I have a wishlist and a new series wishlist for new stuff I'm not sure will survive. When I move stuff from the new series wishlist to my main wishlist, JNC often announces that they've licensed them that very week. (This has happened 3 times now.)
- The Hero and the Sage, Reincarnated and Engaged
- The Otome Heroine's Fight for Survival
- Enough with This Slow Life! I Was Reincarnated as a High Elf and Now I’m Bored
-
@Aruseus493 I hope.
Also doesn't this mean that moving Only Sense Online to the new series wishlist and back mean it has a shot? -
@Torka As much as I want OSO licensed, there's not enough copium in the world to get me to believe that it would work.
-
@Aruseus493 Ah, I see. Well, that sounds promising. I wish you good luck!
