Something else about "Wolf" in the recent episode... His voice actor sounds like a teen gundam pilot. Isn't Volf in his early 20s? The voice could be deeper and more adult.
-
I haven't really posted here in a couple weeks because I've been sick so I haven't kept up like I usually would. That said... With Dahlia episode 7 releasing earlier I am caught up... And I'm slightly annoyed.
Dahlia has a lot of depth in LN form. It deals with business, crafting, romance, etc. Since Volf has come in though, the anime seems to only really focus on Dahlia and Volf... She mentions a few different products (fridge with freezer, foaming soap dispensers), but they are passing things and we don't get any of the depth or chaos of these revolutionary products. It's really making the series feel unbalanced.

@NakamiJun I was pretty concerned when they seemed to ignore Volf's storyline with the Beast Hunters. Thank goodness they went back to them in episode seven.
Also when they shown the flashback of the day Volf's mother died. Volf's brother and step-mother was not referenced at all. That could have been him not remembering everything and Guido mentions it more in his point of view. Still I wonder if that part gets skipped or not.
Though, in reference to the other devices it's looks like the next episode is about her company
dobased onit'sits title. So maybe we will hear more about her other devices like the soap bottle soon. The insoles and toe socks just came out anyway. -

I assumed that the boy huddling in the carriage with a woman were Guido and his mother. If I remember correctly Volf grabbed his mother's sword and tried to fight in the books.
It's funny. I always assumed that Volf's name was more properly spelled in English as Wolfred. I always assumed that J-Novel decided to go with a pronunciation insistent spelling on purpose. Sort of how Chef Boiardi back in the day wanted to be sure everyone pronounced his name properly and spelled it as Boyardee on the packaging for his products.

I'm trying to remember if they showed Dahlia's Gabi-instigated fashion show/shopping spree. We've had relatively little Dahlia when she's not with Tobias or Volf.

Dunno why I was so surprised that her fridge with freezer compartment looked so much like an Earth device. I was almost expecting it to be a pre-incarnation ghost memory that she was working up to.

If I remember correctly Guido is eight years older than Volf. Also in the anime the boy in cart looked like Volf to me. But yes in the book Guido's mother protected Guido, yes. And yes Volf actually did rage attack the bandits and apparentlly had to go to Temple to regrow limbs Poor kid

Yeah the anime subtitles Wolfred but personally it sounds more Volfred to me. But that's might because we are biased? Either way Volf for me, ha ha

Oh no, they are definitely saying Volf and Volfred. Which is the pronunciation for Wolfred in German, as far as I know.

Yes, what we see in English as a W is pronounced with what we American English speakers call V. One of the few facts I remember from German 1 as high school freshman in the 1987-1988 school year. Surprisingly, I can also remember how to count. No clue why I still can do that.

lol, for the first time I Parry Everything had an episode I could enjoy with episode 8... It's post-book 1 and they return to the city so the MC can "Parry a Dragon". He almost believes he could be a hero for a moment...
-
@NakamiJun Yeah, it was the first great episode of the series. And that's mostly because Noor spent most of it doing, rather than waxing poetic about how weak he is.
Lynn's human wind cannon was fun. I had forgotten about all the steps she took to min-max it's power.
-
Okay not going to spoil anything but after watching eighth episode of Dahlia anime. The story is picking up.
All I am going to say is the end put a huge smile one my face.
Looks like they are doing twelve episodes. I wonder how far the story will go into this cour? What will possibly be skipped and how fast they go...
Well, shall go back to my re-reading/catch-up as my schedule allows.
-
I don't know... Dahlia Episode 8 feels... way to fast and abrupt to me. They really don't seem to want to let you settle in and get to know most of the characters. Which is sad as Dahlia is really all about the abundant characters, heck that's why Lucia gets her own spinoff novels. They also seem to be jumbling things up a good bit pushing the foaming soap dispensers into the part with the toe socks even though they are from different books.
I want to love the Dahlia series as much as the books, but unlike Apothecary Diaries, the team behind the anime here just doesn't seem to understand how to do the transition from novel well. From what I've heard it hasn't faired well in Japan either... Which is sad for such a great series.

This is exactly what I was thinking.. The quality of the animation and the adaptation script leaves much to be desired.
I actually wanted to see the cool magic Dahlia does while making the tools. But that was skimmed over. The fights against the monsters isn't shown either. -

I agree that it could be better. They are definitely speeding through some parts. They avoided the Beast Hunters a lot. Probably should stretched it out into two cours.
There are only four episodes left. Like I said I wonder what they skip. They mentioned the soap bottles again. Do we have time for Fermo? They mentioned the unicorn horn... I guess we will see.
As for the Apothecary Diaries anime. Yes, it is good. I am quite behind the books but I have read past the stuff that the anime covered and it has been done well.

On the plus side of rushing through everything they skipped the butts and boobs cringe. 8-)

They changed Lucia's last name as well. I forget what it was but it wasn't Fano.

Oh man... Then I Parry Everything decides to break my brain again for Episode 9...
Again he decides he's 'just not that capable' and decides Rolo 'tamed' the dragon... Right before going on to 'Parry an Army'... And utterly terrify the evil emperor who caused all the problems... I'm now waiting to see next episode that he doesn't believe he defeated the army... for some made up bullcrap reason... Ugh...
-
@NakamiJun that's what made me drop the LN, can't really stand how dumb Noor is. If you haven't already watch Shinmai Ossan Boukensha, Saikyou Party ni Shinu Hodo Kitaerarete Muteki, it's similar premise but done right.
-
Man Episode 9 of Dahlia really has added to my thought that they don't know what to do animating Dahlia. They add in the Unicorn Horn amulet and Skoll bracelet into the story amidst the foaming soap dispensers and Volf's talk with his brother... It all feels like a jumbled mess.
@Lex That's why I stopped reading the LN's after book 1, but... Everyone has said 'it gets better'... So I keep hoping... Ironically it's animation is pretty spot on and if anything is more faithful of an adaptation than Dahlia is... Which is sad.
-
@NakamiJun yes i need to read the LN again to refresh my memory of how good it actually is.

Done differently, and done well; I've started watching it due to your comment, but I'm still a fan of Noor.
But for those who haven't checked out the Shinmai Ossan Boukensha, Saikyou Party ni Shinu Hodo Kitaerarete Muteki anime, do so. @Lex is correct about it being good.
