Too many titles, too little time.

@Eternal Wanderer I have the same problem..
I basically stopped watching TV series because I wasn't able to keep up, and my gaming backlog is scary. The fact that I tend to play lots of rpgs and open worlds doesn't help.

@SomeOldGuy I also find reading in bed relaxing, that's one of the reasons why I tend to read more LNs and mangas rather than watch anime. My main "problem" Is that I often work in burst, I might take a lot of time to decide what to read next, but once I start I can't stop until I reach the end.

@db0ssman Not that much chance of "associating the bed with things other than sleep" this late in the game of life. I switched from tablets to a Kindle because of the light issue, but I'm generally not kept awake by light below a certain level.

Used to be that football or auto races on TV were pretty good at knocking me out, but I don't watch those anymore.

Some times I tell people, "I'm off to read until the Kindle falls."

@SomeOldGuy I meant this more as a warning to anyone trying your advice for the first time than for you per se. If it's something you've done for decades, it obviously isn't an issue for you. For some people, though, they might find after spending a few months reading in bed each night that they can't fall asleep without spending at least a while laying in bed and might not know why.

I totally doing this... reading novel before bed before sleep is my habit and sometimes keep me awake than lull me to sleep, oddly enough I could sleep soundly if I watched movies than reading a novel on my phone.

I want to change into Kindle though, for the sake of my-already-poor eyesight, but still can't decided the good one. Any recommendation?

@Meimi Sorry, I don't really have a good recommendation for a kindle based on the type of light it uses. I read before bed most nights and I use a kindle paperwhite, and don't have any problems with not becoming tired. I'm sure if you google something like best e-readers with orange backlight/nighttime backlight you'll find some places that compare e-readers.

Well, I have a handful of titles I'm trying to follow more closely, and everything else I've put in a spreadsheet and use a random number generator to decide what I read next...

That is an amazing way to be surprised with your reading. I did it for about a year in the past and loved it. I am considering doing it again with the oldest items in my TBR piles.

@stardf29 I like the random feature. Especially when I'm starting something new I can get into a decision/indecision loop of deciding what to read next (or watch next, etc.!)

If you're reading in bed with a tablet (as opposed to a Kindle), make sure it's got a blue light filter active (Apple calls this "Night Shift", I forget what it's called on android, but both of my Android devices have it). It'll help a lot with not making you stay awake.

One of my great weakness is shoujo manga. I spent 5 hours reading it today instead of doing my homework. I just can't resist the sweet fluffy romance goodness 😋😍😊

Of course there are plenty of things of my list that I should have been reading but I just couldn't resist the lure of the fluffy romance 😔

Also because of most publishers wait until paper books, they release 2 books each year. In JNC, we are able to read one book every 10 weeks. Your problem reading time, my problem translating time/release time.

8 parts, 8 weeks to read a book, than binge read the same book within' 2 hours again.

I don't think I could make a list of how many different titles I'm following at the moment without looking at a list. It has to be around 25 or 30 currently, though several of those aren't finished but may never get a continuation.

And that's only here, that's not including physical books. Which is where I'm actually very far behind...

Thankfully, I am a very fast reader. I also have read at least some before I go to sleep every night for as far back as my memory goes. And even as a kid, it made perfect sense to me to be reading 4 or 5 different books at once... one I would take to school, one in my mom's car, one at my bed, one in the living room, etc. So I am rather uniquely well suited for J-Novel's format.

As much as I read, I haven't dropped too many series. I have a good feel for what titles I'm probably not going to enjoy so 1 part is plenty to make the call. The ones I have dropped were all because the protagonist bored me or because I simply couldn't build any sense of being invested in what was going on.
