I know this is going to be called a dumb idea, but I'm still putting it out here. The current lowest tier of 5 dollars to read all the parts released is amazing and an absolute steal. However for me subcribing yo J-Novel has been a real waste of money. I literally joined J-Novel to read one single series, I've been subscribed for like 4 months and I've only really been following that series, I know I have the ability to read others, but I literally don't want to read them, they don't interest me. So paying as much as I am for one series it pretty much a waste of money, but I love the series so much and it the only thing that keeps me going, so I still willing pay up.
So I was wondering if J-Novel would ever consider a subscription service for 0.99 dollars or something less then 5 dollars, which allows one only to subscribe to 5 different series, which can be changed every month when the reoccurring payment happens.
I feel like this could work because in comparison to 5 dollars to subscribe to every single one, the first 0.99 for 5 would look like a rip off and so people who read a lot would opt for the 5 dollars, but if you subcribing because you want to follow a single series you found out j-novel the only one who translate, the 0.99 is convenient since it cheaper and get you what you want.
Once again I know this is likely to be consider a dumb idea, so if that all you have to say about it, you don't need to comment.

It's an interesting idea, but I have a feeling it would be difficult to implement. From what I understand, blanket permissions are easier to grant than specific permissions, and having it be specific permissions chosen by the user would probably add another layer of complexity. Plus, how would this interact with Catch-up series? Would the subscriber under this "J-Novel Club Limited Member" plan be able to read the Catch-Ups as well, or would they only be able to read the ones they were already subscribed to?
Like I said, I think it's an interesting idea, but the logistics would be really difficult.

I don't think it is a dumb idea, but I agree with @TheGrimLich it would probably be incredibly difficult to implement. Imagine someone trying to bounce between series trying to figure out which one they want to follow and how you'd implement a system for that. If it was a matter of just your first click each month, I bet JNC would end up flooded with claims of misclicking into the wrong series and then they'd have do deal with that too.
One possible solution could be to implement what I've seen some web comic sights and have like a coin system. You buy 4 coins for $1 and use 1 coin to unlock a section of a prepub for as long as the prepub is up. After you spend 50 coins you get a free credit (which cost wise puts it in line with a premium membership). This would obviously require a lot of website overhaul and would likely cause it's own headaches too, so they probably wouldn't do it.

If you are only following one series, Wouldn't it be cheaper to drop the sub and just buy the ebook from one of digital book retailers?

Yea if you’re looking to save money and don’t care about premium bonus content, then buying the ebooks elsewhere like on Kobo would make way more sense.

@TheGrimLich I didn't consider how difficult it would be to actually implement a limited system like that, so I guess it makes sense to have a blanket system as it easier. Also with the catch up series I think that It works well to boost my idea, the point of the cheaper band is that it meant to be unbelievable inconvenient compared to normal member, the catch up series should be a privilege reserved for normal members and above, as should commenting on forums like I'm doing now. The plan should give the bare minimum, as to encourage people who want to explore to catch up series or even expand there reading list or share opinions on forums to upgrade. I want it to be a rubbish plan compared to the normal membership, but still fit the niche of people who come to read a single series.

@Timmaaah The eBook means I have to wait a few months to read any content. Knowing that the content is already translated but I still have to wait 3 months doesn't sit well with me, I just feel I need to read it at all costs.

@jampodevral Ok one thing I want to correct, I never said I don't like the price, the price is amazing for most people, but doesn't fit the niche of people who dedicate to a single series like myself.
Two that means I have to wait 3 months and up to read anymore more content compared to the week worth I get to enjoy, even after they finished translated j novel release it a month later, which makes the wait even longer. I'm addicted to this series and it why I pay the money, j-novel isn't ripping off anyone, but their plan just doesn't suit how I like to use their services so the money I pay gets wasted.

$15 per novel is about the cost of a paper copy w/ tax (more if you pay shipping) . You are still getting a deal. You are paying the same as someone picking up hard copies as they are released at Kinokunia, but getting access faster. It’s a bargain!! After all, access to the forums has got to be worth something too. Yea?

I can see why an ardent fan of just one series (e.g. Bookworm) would want this tier, but I don't think it is likely that JNC would introduce it. Even without the licensing and coding requirements it is not a great proposition from JNC's perspective.
I think if people like a series enough to not be able to wait until the next epub release they are likely to be willing to pay for the full subscription so there is no economic incentive for JNC to get into the headache of per-series subscriptions that could just be diverting people from the standard or premium subscriptions which are more profitable. Plus, JNC want people to try out new novels which might be their next favourite (e.g. those who like Bookworm can try out Fushi no Kami).
Whilst JNC regularly has new parts coming out, they don't guarantee when any given part will come out or that there will not be a pause between novels. As such, if someone had a subscription just for one series then it would also be a real burden to figure out what to do if the translation were delayed.

You might be able to split the difference a little bit if you don't mind waiting a short period. I'm pretty sure there is nothing in the system or ToS that would stop you from joining for one month, stopping the sub, and then joining again the next month.
So, for example, you could join in November, catch up on October's sections, and then, read November's sections as they come out week to week. Cancel in December and join again in January, read December's sections, and read January's week to week. Then just keep doing it like that. It would effectively cut the cost in half and are able to account for unexpected stopages or w/e by just waiting a bit to rejoin.

@Jon-Mitchell so I'm paying the price for a paper back, yet im getting a lower quality of the kindle version, the novel costs around 10 dollars the kindle version costs like 5.50 dollars, I think the Google play is even cheaper. So it actually not as good as you say, I could buy 3 kindle novels with the price im currently paying to read one. However im addicted to the story so I still pay the money despite knowing it could be spent more effectively, because I just can't give up on the series, it bring a me a lot of joy, I've already read the most recent part 4 times cause I love it that much.

@Shiny you make a lot of far points, it is a likely fact that j novel would lose money in order to implement it. If money were the issue and they couldn't add it cause the lost in profits would effect them I would take that reason and never ask again if any other reason you listed was the problem I would also accept all of those. Even though I've made this post I know nothing will ever come of it, it just that I can't be upset about something if I've never made the effort to try and change it. So I've made the effort so now I can justify complaining to myself that I'm spending too much money and that I'm an idiot.
Plus I never know, an employee could see this, have pity on my pathetic self and try and help me.

@db0ssman Honestly you would think that I as a human being would have enough discipline to do this. However I don't, every Monday at midnight when bookworm comes out for me, I'm up reading for the hour as soon as it comes out no matter what I have to do tomorrow cause I'm so desperate for it. Then throughout the week I reread and savour it, I've read it 4 times so far and I'm going to reread it a 5th time after I finish replying to all your comments. It honestly helps me get through the harsh week where I'm pretty much studying 6 hours every week day minimum. It brings me so much joy and it is a much needed part of my routine. At this point I just can't give it up. I don't actually expect anything to come out of this comment, but I can't justify complaining to myself and calling myself stupid if I didn't even try to make a change, so don't feel bad for me, I've stuck myself in this situation.

I was referring to the cover price (US$13.99 or 14.99+ whatever tax is where you are) ... yes epubs are cheaper and pre-pubs still have some errors...I'm trying to offer some consolation...$5.00/month is about the same cost as going down to the local bookstore and picking up a copy as they are released. I am aware that pretty much NO ONE does that anymore. I don't mean this as a criticism; but it is an issue that I've seen come up a bunch of times: JNC is a CLUB. It isn't a service like YouTube for books or Kindle Unlimited. Membership in the club isn't marketed a way to get books/ebooks cheaper. (although to some that may be a benefit) Dues help support projects; primarily translations/marketing/publishing of LN's and Manga. Dues also support the webpage, app (their development/hosting costs) and the forums. There are other things that the club does: promote LNs and Manga in general/ and the titles they license in particular at conventions, do their part in dealing with the likes of Amazon and the censorship there, and other things that I am not even aware of. My point is that if you only look at 'the bottom line' you are right; for some $$dues > $$google play titles, and some don't see/care about the other benefits of membership in the club and that is ok. However; if you are following a pre-pub, and frequenting the forums, you are consuming some of the club benefits. There is no such thing as a free lunch. I shudder to think of the quagmire that single title memberships, 'lite' memberships, etc. would entail logistically (and others already commented more eloquently than I would)
My long winded point (sorry) is that rather than your membership costing too much, consider what value you are getting for the cost of a Venti Mocha and Starbucks.

Interesting idea. When i joined first time in JNC, i was like you. I only came for AoaB. The main problem for me, the JNC's library doesnt fit my taste. Later on, i found 3 more books but still. 5$ could be high for a series. The thing is the normal single amateur writer asks 2.5$ from patreon for one series. So depends on 3-4 series 5$ its really worth the money but if you are really follow one series, 1-1.5$ seems fair but still...
It doesnt about "saving money". In 5$, you get access 30+ series' current volumes. Thats the cheapest as gets. However, they guy says, im only following 1 book. So If JNC also thinks like i do, they could reduce the price for one series only. So that i would pay less money but i also support the JNC and get early access the book i love so much.
Also, i am buying premium books depends on the series. So i am paying extra again cuz i love the series.

@db0ssman nice thinking. they release 4 parts every month. So getting token and opening parts would be fine. Although, after expire date comes, they should close those parts like they do in normally but still, nice thinking.
8 parts, 8 weeks to read a book, than binge read the same book within' 2 hours again.
