Is there a way to verify release versions on platforms like kobo or kindle before purchase? I've been putting off paying for Mushoku until they have fixed most of their issues.

@mortcs Both Kindle and Kobo allow you to see a free preview of the file they have.
If you look through the copyright page, at the very bottom, it should say "Revised Edition: March 2021."

Started reading Mushoku Tensei on Kindle and happy to confirm the first 7 volumes have been updated with the "Revised Edition: March 2021" label in the copyright section at the beginning of the book.

Unfortunately volume 8 still hasn't been updated yet though. Oddly enough volume 9 has been updated too. Guess they weren't going in chronological order.

Seems I'll have to read something else while waiting for Seven Seas to update vol. 8. Been meaning to read Faraway Paladin (more so now that an anime adaptation’s been announced). Now's a good time as any I guess.

@moontei 8-10 haven't been revised yet, 9 was updated as there was a missing image.

@shipteaser Nope. I just compared ISBN of my censored vol.2 copy with one on the photo of legal page of revised edition that was posted on reddit a few days ago. They are identical.

And sadly no luck. I am seriously considering never buying a book from Seven Seas again after this debacle, and as I buy almost every physical light novel going that's quite the loss to them. There's little point in releasing an updated fixed product if it proves impossible to get said product...

All I get is 'we only have one.listing' from all the retailers which is sodding useless when one wants the revised edition...

why don't revised editions have a new ISBN that systems obviously garbage too...

                      Edited to remove some.excessive rage...

Revised ebook editions are going up on digital platforms as quickly as Seven Seas' Airship light novel team and digital team can get them completed.

We have a number of the revised print editions scheduled for reprinting. However, printers are slammed due a staggering demand for print books across the board and it is going to take some time for reprints of every revised book to trickle out. This is an issue that the entire industry is facing. -AA

Really hard to believe SS have so many similar issues that are "not connected in any way". All the most popular titles that actually got carefully checked over by the fans had been littered with the same cut content/heavy-handed adaptation issues and I'm yet to see a single "we compared the SS volume to the original and it was fine" example. This is all the more suspect when you notice that they literally always have a person responsible for the "adaptation" on the team, the semantics and intention of the word being clearly different from the usual translator-editor-qc relationship and we see that very obviously being reflected in the issues.

I can't in good faith even imagine that this is not a systematic editorial problem and I feel that by not acknowledging said problem they'll just keep fixing the biggest issues unearthed post-factum. Hence I don't expect the similar reports to stop. I know many are extreme optimists in nature and would disagree with me but after carefully researching the topic I don't see a point in supporting SS in any way in the future as that would only enable them to acquire more popular licenses that would end up with questionable releases. And that would only hurt this industry in the long run.

                              Hello,

As this topic has gone on for quite some time now, and there was a sizable gap between posts, it is now time for this topic to be locked.

At this point everything has been addressed, yes not everyone will agree with, or accept what has happened, but there does not seem to be any need to keep coming back to this subject here on the J-Novel Club forums.

                              Thank you for your cooperation.
