I only just found out recently that many of the series include bonus short stories, and had I known that I absolutely would have bought the premium editions outright instead of on places like amazon and bookwalker. Perhaps in the final inserts of each ebook you could include an advert or preview of the bonus content, but I will probably rebuy a couple of the books just for those bonus chapters.

This is a common practice in Japan, often the bonus content is tied to which shop you buy from.
On this side, it isn't only here, there is at least one series on here that had a bonus story(not available here) when purchased elsewhere, but the name escapes me...

It's not the fact that you need to buy the premium edition that bothers me, its more of I wish I knew ahead of time so I could buy it instead of the regular version. so long as the bonus content is not integral to the plot I personally do not mind, I just would love to read more of some of these series.

I agree. The wording in the ebooks I bought before discovering how unusual J-Novel Club actually is sounded similar enough to the vague "sign up for our newsletter" that I've seen in books by other publishers. If it had said "DRM-free ebooks with bonus stories" I would have visited the J-Novel Club website immediately.

It may be against the TOS for other storefronts to blatantly advertise their direct sell website in the product like that.

@jpwong I'd be willing to bet that Amazon, at least, has some kind of clause about that in their contracts.

My grasp on sanity remains absolute.

Oh, right, the poison, the poison for Kuzco, the poison chosen especially to kill Kuzco, Kuzco's poison. ...That poison?

Yes, Amazon does indeed restrict that. I don't remember who said it but I know one of the JNC staff said that when that initial batch of Amazon takedowns happened and people suggested they should mention the images would be in the correct place if you bought direct.
