Starting a Tearmoon fan art thread.

Very mild Spoiler alert—contains an image of the Emperor based off a scantilated Tearmoon Manga—so if you don’t want to know what the Emperor (sort of) looks like, you may want to skip

      spoiler

This one is my newest—it’s an illustration of Mia and her father posing for a family portrait. The portrait is taking way longer than it should because the Emperor keeps turning around to talk to Mia, who has no choice but to smile and listen because portrait—this is the Emperor’s idea of heaven—for Mia it’s something else entirely (until Abel shows up). The painter’s name is Georgia (my creation) —she’s been painting Mia’s portraits since she was a baby. I hope you can recognize Anne!
(This was my first attempt at drawing all figures freehand without someone modeling for me.)

Mia and Anne are visiting Ludwig in his office before they leave for Remno. Mia has just a little bit of unfinished bit of paperwork that she is hoping Ludwig will help with while she is away —Ludwig happily accepts, of course! (fyi the same 10y/o posed for all three figures for this one)

This is Mia and Abel’s sister Clarissa riding. I just guessed what Clarissa looks like. The title of this illustration’s chapter is “The Fearless Princess”. This was my first illustration—copy and pasting combined with freehand drawing (literally, freehand—I was drawing with my finger!)-after this, I bought a used iPad-pro and pencil and use that now—and used that to clean up the original.

Anne letting folks know she means business! —riding The King’s Horse with sword and bow.

So, this is supposed to be “Prince Gain’s Epiphany”—he has come to the conclusion that he is a loser, and it is all Mia’s fault.
I was going for a Looney Toons thing here—but, probably needed to make it more cartoony—It doesn’t really look like Gain is going to just bounce back from getting hit from one of those anvils! Though, it does pretty much sum up his mental state in my story. Maybe I will try again, and just make everything a little flatter.

          Mia and her Mama!
It’s actually a work in progress—I hope to add two other characters and a background—but, I am really happy with how it looks right now—so here it is!

I imagine Mia’s mom sort of as a “Villainess” from another story —”villainess” as schemer/anti-heroine who tries to convince Mia to be the same. Mia tries to follow mom’s advice—but Mia is Mia, so….

Until today, I imagined Mia’s mom’s name as Terizia, but I just found out that it is really Adelaide—oh well (Marie Antoinette’s mom was Teresa).

My biggest inspiration for Mia’s mom is the villainess from “The Villainess Lives Twice”—heavily reimagined. Her tiara is part Audrey Hepburn’s from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and part Mia’s. I stole her hand-pose from some Harry Potter fan-art. The style is inspired by Tearmoon and part “A Match Made in Heaven by Chance”

Mia’s pose is from a photo of a girl hanging from monkey-bars.

I appreciate any constructive criticism. Thanks!

I like the expressions on their faces, particularly Mia's.

So, I visited an Auguste Rodin exhibit, and I was really inspired. The pose is lifted from “The Thinker,” which fits Mia so well! I usually tone down Mia’s outfits—less bows, less frills, and less puffy sleeves—not so much here—puffy sleeves and tons of bows (though her tiara is a little small this time). And the pose it pretty funky too—sure it’s iconic, but sitting like that is like playing a game of Twister! The right elbow is resting on the same leg that the left hand is grabbing—I actually had an 11-year-old pose for me—he hated the pose almost as much as he hated wearing the dress (just kidding about the dress). I just love the combination of the sweet and the absurd—it is just so Mia!

Someone on another board wanted to see this passage from vol 5 illustrated, so I gave it a shot . . .

“Side Chapter: Bel and Her Small Piece of Happiness II

Bel was fond of these brief moments just before dinner as dusk faded into the darkness of night, for this was when she’d be given a good wash while listening to stories of the grandmother she admired. It might, in fact, be her favorite time of day...

She sat in a barrel filled with water as a soft washcloth soaked beside her. In the winter the water was bone-chillingly cold, but in the summer, its chilliness was quite comfortable.

Elise fished out the washcloth . . .

                alt text

Though the passage had Elise wiping Bel’s back, I thought pouring the water made if feel a little more joyful. The one I posted on Reddit is an earlier version. I like this one better.

I am trying to draw a few of these without trying to copy Gilse’s style—mostly because I am just now learning how to do this, and I think I need to learn the basics more, before I get overly involved in something that is super stylized.

Next up, it’s the Remno boy’s turn—a very teen-angsty Gain and Abel working through their emotions and stuff.

That's awesome! Love the details you put into the scene, that's really detailed, and I'm loving the design especially the addition of the painter. Any idea of the Emperor you come up with is bound to be amazing, and yours definitely looks majestic! Always great to see more Tearmoon love out there. Thanks for sharing!
