With the recent acquisition of Orphen, I can surely hope to see the classic Slayers licensed?

“Slayers follows the adventures of teenage sorceress Lina Inverse and her companions as they journey through their world. Using powerful magic and swordsmanship they battle overreaching wizards, demons seeking to destroy the world, dark lords, and the occasional hapless gang of bandits.”

      Author - Hajime Kanzaka
      Artist - Araizumi Rui
      Year - 1989
      Status - 15 Volumes (Completed)
Original Publisher - Fujimi Shobo (Kadokawa)

Would love to see Slayers released. I’m sure they’ll do another anime for it at some point, that would be when I bet it gets grabbed.

Posting to give my support for this potential acquisition/rescue.

Yes, this series was originally licensed by Tokyopop, but like their other light novel efforts, they ultimately abandoned it only half done (8 of the original 15 volumes). Typical of the time, they did not attempt digital release either.

As someone who went out-of-my-way to buy these years ago, I would buy these all again to, if nothing else, to get better translations than what we have. Here's a discussion and analysis of the rather odd-ball translation we got.

Oh, and whatever business Orphen is giving you guys, I pretty much guarantee this series will do better. Slayers will have waaaay more brand recognition. :p

                  Thank you for your consideration!

I want to see this truly classic series get some love. The anime is still a great watch.

this is already on Amazon just not in epub formate. it was licensed by Tokyo pop. Amazon paper back

i would go for a retranslation if Tokyo pop did drop the license.

As I said before, as I enjoy Kanzaka's work, seeing Lost Universe eventually translated (same companies as Slayers) would be a dream come true.

A Fantasia Bunko livestream presentation revealed that Slayers novels writer Hajime Kanzaka launched a third part in the series in the July issue of Fujimi Shobo's Dragon Magazine on Friday.

The first part of the novel series includes the first eight compiled book volumes, and the second part includes the ninth to 15th volumes. The 16th and most recent volume shipped in October as the first new volume in nearly 18 years.

Would love to see Slayers here. It was a shame that only the first 8 volumes were officially licensed and translated into English by Tokyopop.

So would that be a “hit the ground running “ or a “this is more work to fix than to just start over” scenario with TokyoPop volumes out there?
