Misrepresented/Misinterpreted characters and more in stories.

I started this because I read a comment that I strongly felt that the person just did not get the point some characters and story's or was mislead due to the massive misrepresentation of certain characters. I would like discuss stories and characters that are misrepresented (usually from adaptions).

The comment I saw was basicly how Goblin Slayer is uncaring, lacks empathy, and whatnot and then later compares him to Batman. You see, Batman is one of my favourite heroes and protagonists ever and seeing how he is represented in movies just bugs me to no end. If you can't imagine Batman comforting a little girl as she is dieing then that Batman is grossly misrepresented. Just search "Batman ace scene" if you do not get what I mean, or just watch Batman TAS.

Zero Time Dilemma seemed to do this with a few characters from the previous games by changing their personalities and making some characters in particular far weaker minded than I thought they should be. =(

@drone205 Related, but Batman is also often maligned for being a rich person who uses training and gadgets to "beat up poor people", as though that is the entire extent of his crime-fighting.
It ignores that he also uses his persona of Bruce Wayne (and the Wayne Foundation) to fund multiple charity works and initiatives to fight the systemic roots of crime in Gotham, from poverty to infrastructure to corruption to opportunities. He believes very strongly in rehab.
Just about every "why doesn't Batman do this to really fight crime" criticism I've read can be answered with "he does".
