No longer publish novels i read.
-
I started reading on this website and buying the novels about year ago. At the time was reading smartphone, faraway palidin, mixed bathing, clockwork, and bluesteel blasphemy. Out of those 5 only one has had new book or even chapter in 6 months. No longer worth it for me to keep my membership. So I canceled it. I don't mind you guys getting new novels to translate but don't stop translating the ones you had like you have.
I would start reading other novels on this website but pretty sure in 6 months none of those will get translated too. If history for website is indicator would just be wasting my time starting any other novel series on this webite.

I think all the titles you mentioned are either caught up with the current Japan release or are finished so there's nothing more for JNC to release.
-
It's unfortunate, but yeah, it's as stated above.
With Bluesteel, it was an unfortunate circumstance where the ending was rushed for that volume because the sales likely weren't high enough in Japan. That had been completed before JNC licensed it, so they knew the circumstance surrounding it, but still found it compelling enough to release.
A few of the others are on hiatus unfortunately. I think Smartphone and Paladin are caught up, but probably will continue on some regular pace. The others I'm not sure about, but there's no new material yet in Japan even. =(
-
Indeed, they can't translate content that doesn't exist yet (except Smartphone) 😅
-
Yeah as far as rants go this is about the most ignorant illogical one I have ever scene.
-
Funny thing is if this was just your average fan translation the translation would not even be close to caught up with the series in Japan. If JNC only translated like 1/25 of a LN volume per month then you will not be complaining about completed or caught up translations.
-
Smartphone gets new volumes published every 2 months, with parts released nearly every week, and will continue to do that until we catch up to Japan (which might take a while if they keep publishing new books every 3 months).
Paladin, the author has a writing block and is doing his best (we hope) to continue/wrap up the story.
Mixed Bathing and Clockwork, again waiting for the Japanese authors to continue the story.
Bluesteel is finished completely.I encourage you to try out some of the new series’s. Bakarina is especially fun and touching and I think anyone would enjoy.
Werwolf is a good nation building story like Realist Hero.
Elf Bride is a cute fantasy series with a non-harem romance. Not to mention, manga titles are set to launch starting tomorrow, so that might be worth sticking around for.

The only series that J-Novel Club has ever stopped translating before catching up to the latest Japanese release is New-Life+, and that was due to exceptional circumstances (the big scandal) that also terminated the publishing of the Japanese novels. None of the series you mentioned were dropped by J-Novel Club (they simply caught up to the Japanese releases), so you can rest assured that any new series that you pick up is safe, inasmuch as J-Novel Club will translate whatever the Japanese publisher releases. There are a ton of new series since Smartphone, and a bunch more coming soon (plus manga in a day or two), so lots to check out!

...and Siskan; not "stopped" as in dropped, but the relaxed release schedule could be considered "stopped before catching up" in terms of the kind of complaint the OP has.
But yeah, besides those 1-2 special cases, everything comes out at a good clip. Others have already pointed out that there's no more for JNC to translate in the OP's specific examples.
If there's really nothing else the OP is interested in, by all means drop the subscription; that's a perfectly reasonable response. It's just not an issue with JNC abandoning series.

While what you say may be true, you could phrase this in a way that doesn't attack the original poster. He most likely misunderstood the situation about why those books were not having more content come out on J-Novel.
Antagonism is more likely to drive customers away from both this forum and J-Novel. It is better to be more understanding of people than antagonistic. That is, if you want to help J-Novel maintain it's customer base while it attracts more customers. In business it is usually cheaper to keep a customer than it is to get a new one.
This is advice I think everyone should follow better (including myself). If we feel flame wars happen too often on the internet, the best way to fix that problem is to do our best to not be a part of the problem ourselves and try to be more understanding of others.

Well, I must admit there is a degree of hypocrisy in me calling you out on it though, since I am confronting you for your behavior. I just hope it isn't received as an attack on you but instead just a plea for all of us to be a little bit kinder to others.
I don't know how many times I have typed up something on this forum only to not submit it because I felt it was too antagonistic. I even considered not posting my last post for the same reason.
-
@malloc I don't think calling someone out politely like you did really counts as antagonistic, but it's up to you to decide what you're comfortable doing. In my opinion though it's far better to politely let others know when they're being mean or harsh like you did. Than to sit back and watch for fear of being called a hypocrite. You also need to be aware you might get some flack for it. Cause forums.

I was waiting for Bluesteel Blasphemer and after some months I see en bookwalker the tag "completed", so..
FACEPALM!

The afterword of the final volume does say it was canceled, though.
-
I think some people don't read the Afterwards. I know I don't read Forwards if I can help it, and sometimes Afterwards give too much info too if the book is based on a web novel (Paying to Win In A VRMMO in particular gives a few things away about a character who doesn't even appear in V1 and then gives away her nickname, which doesn't appear until later in the story).
-
@malloc He my have misunderstood the situation but then he has no rights to accuse J-Novel that they simply drop a series and that this will happen in the future.
First they did not drop those mentioned series but they are complete or caught up. This is just a case of someone not informing himself.
And secondly. Why even speculate that they will drop series in the future?

The speculation was valid early on since other pubs have done it with series. But iirc on Curiousity Cat, Sam has recently said pretty confidently that he won't drop anything on his end (he obviously can't control JP publisher choices or authors dropping their series), so that kind of quashes that as a talking point.
Nothing's been dropped and nothing is going to be dropped for the foreseeable future (besides the New Life situation).

Nothing's been dropped and nothing has been planned to be dropped (besides the New Life situation).
I still List New Life + as suspended, hoping that someday it will return.

Since this has been addressed fully I will be locking it down
