Went through the entire selection of titles available and HOLY SHIT these guys really are horrific parasites! How do you people sleep at night!? $120 yearly!? For this!?
-
The regular membership fee is $4.95 a month, or $54 if you pay for a year in advance. You can't afford that, then you have bigger problems then looking for a place to read light novels.
As for how I sleep on a big pile of money.

Thank you for validating my point!

No one is entitied to entertainment, $120 is nothing, next to that $60 is absolutely NOTHING.
If at the end of the month that $5 for the membership is gonna make all the difference you have my sympathies.

First reaction: LOL
Slightly more serious response: As a legitimate service actually licensing the titles from the Japanese publisher, of course they're going to charge money to pay for those licenses, plus pay the employees.
And ~5 dollars for 5+ books worth of content each month is an incredible deal.
-
Let's license novels and upload them for free! Give out free high-quality novels with exclusive contents when we are at it, yes?
Though I must admit JNC hasn't had a wide range of titles just yet, they are a growing site. No one is forcing you to contribute to their growth against your will.
Maybe come back later when we have more titles and more suitable subscription plans.
-
If you are paying the 10 dollars a month you are getting credit every month and that is worth 1 premium book a month (6 dollar value). So if you use the premium credits for the bonus content in the Ebooks you are only really paying the subscription, and other half is towards 12 premium books.
-
@casual nice b8 m8
-
$120 for 12 e-books a year and a chance of reading all the titles they have... Plus if we buy the e-book from J-Novel Club we get bonus content.
Absolutely disgusting!... Lmao xD
-
The subscription is a decent amount I say. Now, if you were referring to Amazona's paywall (I know you weren't), then I would agree with you.
-
@casual LOL, you only need to pay 5$ a month to read the content while it comes out. Even I (who live on a student budget) can afford that. I get quality translations every day for the price of a Big Mac. IF you can't afford that, you have a big problem dude. You should go job hunting somewhere. Although I doubt anyone will hire you with that mouth.
Even 11 $ is not much. It is the price of a pepperoni pizza where I live. Only reason I don't have premium is that I rather buy the older ebooks myself when I want to read them.
-
First, if you don't like the payway, buy the finished product, but I doubt you will.
Second, the real parasites are those who insist on books for free. It's one thing if it's unlicensed, but j-novel is licensing and bringing the work to North American masses. This payday is a reasonable low price to give you advanced access as they work on it.
Now a real great suggestion would be a point system. X points for every minor error fixed, xx points for every major error fixed. XXX points gets you a free month, OR a free downloaded end product. (It'd encourage me to read series I might not have interest in and result in better releases across the board)
Btw, I sub to the $10.95 from Canada, and while I was wondering if I'd continue past the first month, even having read the versions from unlicensed sources I'm leaning on the side of renewal(about 75%)
-
So let me get this straight... It's a pay wall when I pay 10$ a month to read books that I was otherwise going to buy anyways............... which turns out to be more than 10$ a month? /me is confused.
Really, this stuff is reasonably priced. No complaints here.

You get advanced UNLIMITED access to pre-published books.
It's not unlike Netflix, funimation or crunchyroll.
For that 4.95 or 10.95 a month you get to read it online, AND you get one book each month(for premium) without the IP lock technology restricting you only to.. say... Amazon applications.
I don't see how that's a rip off.
Oops, I misunderstood your POV. ;)
-
@Thomask lol
I feel like that was an "oops, made fun of both of you secretly, teeheehee {better leave the 'dont hate me' clause}"
