(New) App Feedback

Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but I'd really like a way to sort series by latest volume release date. It is easy enough to find new releases in the prepub tab because they are sorted by time, but when a series has been released and appears in the series tab, it's a bit cumbersome to get to, since you have to search for it by name because the series are ordered by license acquisition date...? An option to sort by alphabetical order would be nice too.
Additionally. it would help if the series page had the option of being displayed as a list like the prepub page, which would allow us to scan through the series list more quickly. Some highlighting of series available by subscription and information on the expiration date of the latest prepub/catchup volumes would be very helpful too.
(All that to say, I've tagged too many series for following, so the "Only Follows" filter doesn't help me find the series I want to read much more quickly.)

I'm a new JNC member and app user so apologies if this has been addressed. I wasn't able to find info in the forums about double-page layout for light novels.
On an iPad (9th gen, iPadOS 17.3.1), the page layout button the bottom right does not change the layout. I can see the button alternate between "[1][2]" and "[1]" but no change occurs when I toggle it. I'm able to use the double-page layout for manga normally if that's of any note.
I've attempted restarting the app, resetting Novel Preferences, and tried both horizontal orientations of the iPad. Any tips?

Feature request
Reporting corrections for currently open prepubA way to quickly report a correction on the prepub that is currently being viewed in the app
Reasoning
Would make it much easier to report a typo or other correction while reading latest releases instead of having to navigate to forums on mobile -
@star1954 Seconded. I would give feedback on errors if it were made easy.
-
@RobD this is actually the issue with this feature. The easier it is, the higher the number of "corrections" we get which are just completely wrong and we have to ignore.
-
@admin I see. Well you could probably use a white-list to authorize only people you trust with this feature but I guess it's not worth the trouble.

@T-Fontana said in (New) App Feedback:
The “Retry” button after a failed connection does not appear to be working.
To reproduce:
- Turn Wi-Fi off
- Open the J-Novel Club app. The “failed loading” page with the “Retry” button will appear. (As expected)
- Turn Wi-Fi back on and connect to a network that can connect to J-Novel Club.
- Return to the J-Novel Club app and press the “Retry” button. The display is unchanged after pressing the “Retry” button. The J-Novel Club app won’t work until it is quit and reopened (see https://support.apple.com/guide/ipad/quit-and-reopen-an-app-ipad79518d15/ipados)
I am using version 2.0.1 of the app on an iPad.
I noticed that the recent app update fixes this. Thank you.

We've released a version 3.1.0 of the app with the following changelog:
- Fix reliability of in-app purchases
- Improve reader UI integration with system navigation & status bars
- Adjust design of "Profile" account tab
- Performance improvements and bugfixes
@sakakawea regarding the spread/single page toggle button issue, that's something we'll fix in the next release.
Overall, we're getting close to the completion of our backend overhaul, which will allow us to develop new features more quickly that have been held up for a long time. A lot of the work behind the app not included in the changelog revolves around preparation for that

I just upgraded to 3.1.0 on my Boox Page, and now when reading LN prepubs every page turn with the side button is turning 2 pages instead of 1. I tried changing some settings but couldn't find any solutions so will have to go back to the old version for now.
Edit: This is apparently only when page animations are turned off, but that feature is a must on an e reader.
-
I have a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G, Android 13.
Since the 3.1.0 update, I can see the recent list, and I can read a part, and I can go into the series section and read parts.
But then after I close the app, and go back in, I just get a blue page with the JNovel club logo. I have to force close the app, after which it works again until the next time I close it.

@chocolatkey so I have question why was the original publisher for removed from the app because I liked knowing which Japanese companies originally published the books I read
-
Feature Request for the app: I'd like to be able to filter between novels, manga, or both on the Releases tab, with it being sticky between uses just like the follows filter is.
-
@Elijah203223 The original publisher was removed because the decision was made to remove the original publisher data in our upcoming database change. Therefore, we'll no longer have anything to put there, so I removed it in advance.
@ulysses We may have found the issue causing this, it will be adjusted in an upcoming minor release
@Lake would it be possible for you to take a screen recording? Also, I do not have a Boox Page or access to one, do you know what keyboard key the button is emulating? That would be very helpful to pinpoint the issue

I've uploaded a screen recording with the first being the double page turn with animations off, and then single page turns with animation on (the page animations look much worse in person). From my limited testing it is occurring every turn regardless of font and font size. Both were working fine as a single page turn in the previous version.
The button is set to Page-turn, but I'm not sure what key that goes too. The other options like Volume have never worked for me.
-
@chocolatkey may I ask why that decision was made?
-
@Lake OK, could you please go to https://keyjs.dev/ , make sure you're focused on the text box, and then try pressing the buttons? If it properly displays something like "ArrowLeft", please take a screenshot.

Looks to be Page Down, but I'm not sure whether this is different between apps

Sam elaborated about that on reddit

-
@GeorgeMTO yes and I responded and said thank you for clarifying why it was removed
-
@Lake Thanks, that helps. We do handle certain keyboard keys as a kind of bonus hidden feature in the app, but it typically is not tested before a new release, so there's probably a bug. I'll look into it
Edit: we may have a fix for this in the next version
