Thoughts on Bookwalker global
-
I know I often come off as paranoid when major changes happen to Japanese companies. So I have decided to ask everyone for their thoughts on Global Bookwalker being absorbed into J Novel Club. I don't mind it, but I do have some concerns if we will still be able to access the JP store.

Relevant Press Release: https://global.bookwalker.jp/info-ownership-transfer/
Pro: J-Novel staff get more accurate counts for what's popular in Japan leading to better English licensing opportunities.
Con: Sam sees that everyone here has already bought Redo of a Healer on Book☆Walker and now has no choice but to license it under the new oh!Shi-novel club banner.

I hate to admit it but I read redo wn years ago and under all the shock schlock theres a quite good story.
Its a shame if im honest.

Does that mean we can download our books in epub format instead of using Bookwalker's shitty reader? Because I would welcome that.

You already can do that, in fact it is better to do it that way, the ones you are looking at are prepubs, they are missing content like the color illustrations and do not usually have all of the corrections from the final round of editing or any post-release corrections. The online reader is there for people streaming the pre-publication releases. If you go to the user section of the j novel club site it takes you to the books you have purchased and you can download from there.

@Valanduin
I meant the books in the Bookwalker library. I just really dislike the Bookwalker reader. -
@morbelek jokes on you I've had access to bookwalker Japan's sales numbers for years (I am a member of their board)
