I read he news about the arson at Kyoto Animation this morning. I'm shocked/speechless

I was wondering why KyoAni was trending on Twitter. Then I checked the tweets and learned about the arson.
It was horrific. Apparently, the perp barricaded the escape doors. Several directors lost their lives, including two I'm really fond of (of Violet Evergarden and Suzumiya Haruhi).

I watched the news unfurl last night, when initially there were only 30 injured, then multiple deaths confirmed. Hoping that was the last of it, I went to bed and woke up this morning to the news that 33 were confirmed dead. This is absolutely devastating for these employees and the studio, if not the worst disaster ever in the anime industry. I pray for the souls lost and the families of the deceased, as well as those who made it out alive and are in the hospital. I am left speechless of this barbaric act.

Holy crap, that's horrible! :(

Oh wow, I was't aware of it. I'm currently away for a couple weeks and I haven't kept up-to-date with my usual news sites. This is a really tragic event π

It seems there are confusions/conflicting news about this? From one souce I read it claimed the opposite (those 2 are safe).
I was also wonder how the fire could engulf the whole building and create that many casualties, but if he really barricaded the exit, that was one hell of a malicious plan. -
There are no names being released of the casualties right now, take any names you do see with a grain of salt.

Whoever did this is a monster and I donβt use that term lightly. The families and friends of those lost must be suffering so much.

KyoAni president says they lost all of their materials in the blaze. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-07-19/kyoto-animation-president-states-in-interview-that-all-materials-computers-were-destroyed-in-fire/.149142
Also the perpetrator has confessed to being motivated by his belief that KyoAni stole his work.
