So I'm new to j novel. I sighed up specifically to read Ascendance of a bookworm. Now they deleted/taken down the first 3 volumes except the first. WHAT GIVES? I signed up so that I don't have to buy the books but still support the author now you are telling me that I need to buy the book. That means I should just cancel my account and just order the books

        Hello,

Volumes are available to read for members while they're being translated. After the book is fully released and available for purchase, they expire shortly thereafter and can only be read if you buy it or wait for the series to go on catchup.

Last month all of Bookworm was made available for J-Novel Club members to read. It was on catch-up. Now that a new month is upon us last month's titles have been put back in the vault for new titles.

If you are unsatisfied with this please send an e-mail to support@j-novel.club requesting a refund.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

@Desire I was the same as you when i joined the first times. That month was also AoaB month :D so i felt exact samething. However, you will understand how it works in JNC. You cant read all books all the time. All volumes' part 1s are available for ever but part 2-8(10 depends on the series) will deleted after e-book release. Actually when you click that part in info side you can see "Prepub Expires: in X months". Still it worth the read books before release.

Also another info. Not in AoaB but some of the series have "extra stories" when premium book released they put those stories. If you are following more than one series, being premium member(free e-book each month), it would be better. Just sayin'

          Edit:

PS: When we become members, we should read informations very carefully because actually JNC answers that information but i never noticed before parts disappeared.

8 parts, 8 weeks to read a book, than binge read the same book within' 2 hours again.

          Myne: Did we deceived him?
          Ferdinand: Indeed we did.
          Myne: *surprised myneface

This is why you should become premium member. Its more valuable for money. They give you a free credit to buy 1 ebook every month

Not free. Have to factor in cost of membership. Which you pay for whether or not you use it.
              Can buy one for $7.
Really not a fan of the way membership is set up here. Would pay for premium if it gave me more. As it is, membership is great if you're up-to-date, but if you're not, it's just a discount.

@mrgoboom Premium membership also comes with a discount for the Premium Ebooks $6 tokens instead of $7.

There are a few people who dont follow the PrePublished parts and speciffically get Premium Membership for one month just to buy bulk tokens. Then they just use those tokens as the series they follow release.

Me, I just buy the 1 year plan and use the tokens I automatically get, plus more as finances allow.

this complaint seems top pop up every now and then:

"I thought JNC was netflix for books, I pay my $X/month and stream whatever I want"

can we get the web landing page updated? or perhaps more details on the page where accounts are set up (and credit card payments are taken)?

I'm old and paranoid so yea, I read all the FAQ's but even those aren't easy to find /obvious on the website

                  I read banned books

I agree, the number of people who misunderstand the system makes it clear that JNC need to explain it more explicitly in more prominent locations.

                    Stay shiny, y'all.

This may come as a shock to you, but if JNovelClub allowed people to read their entire library for just $5/month people would probably never buy their novels and JNovelClub would take massive losses. That's why they rotate things out.

The membership is only meant to give a little benefit for a little price.

But if you catch a series at its beginning you can read the whole series for free if you keep up with the pre-pub releases.

Or if you are up to date on a series that JnovelClub licenses before joining its membership then you can continue reading it that way through the pre-pubs.
                      I'm currently doing that for:

                      • Infinite Dendrogram
                      • Tearmoon Empire
                      • How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom
                      • Arifureta
                      • Ascendance of a Bookworm
                      • The Combat Baker & Automaton Waitress
                      • Welcome to Japan Ms Elf
                      • I Shall Survive Using Potions
Also been thinking about picking up Lazy Dungeon Master.
Long story short, if you play your cards right, this membership can have a LOT of value.

If you're gonna have to pay to catch up on Ascendance of a Bookworm either way, you might as well just upgrade to premium membership, buy enough $6 credits to read the first 3 books, and then continue it on the website and keep up with the pre-pubs.

Here’s an idea (for whomever can update website and app) flag titles on catchup. Like add a post it note that says “for a limited time this series is on “catch up” all volumes available to read for JNC members until the end of the month!” Don’t make folks remember what was in the announcements ...put it right in our faces

I do find it odd how many people get confused about JNC or don't understand basic stuff that's explained in the FAQ. I would have thought that people would make sure that they understood the terms of the membership before subscribing and that anyone with questions would read the FAQ (and personally, I would have thought that the finding the FAQ was quick and easy, because it's exactly where I'd expect information like that to be). But clearly, for whatever reason, a surprising number of people either don't go looking for the relevant information or can't find it.

I don't know how JNC should present the information to make it clearer, but it definitely sounds like they should figure out how to do so. That being said, there will probably always be people who miss key information no matter how you present it.

LOL. When I first read the quote, I thought that it said University rather than Universe, which gives it a rather different meaning. :)

@myskaros The book only has two "chapters" of about 5 pages each listed. I would never buy a book for $10 with only 5 pages.
