Lately I‘m having trouble with keeping up buying the latest volumes of each series I’m reading. I‘m currently reading 15 light novel series and I slowly, but surely can‘t keep up with the releases anymore.
Do you always keep up with buying the latest volumes, or do you need to catch up to some too?
As long as the series are ongoing it is fine, but after they are completed you need to be quick in catching up before they aren’t available anymore.

With digital releases I keep up because I am able to read them faster.

I can read them at home, in my car outside of work if i get there early, during lunch, when I am out and about (vary rare these days cause...)

With physicals I can really only read them at home, so I take longer to read them, and ever since the whole world turned upside down I have stopped all my physical orders, so I am behind on many of my favorites (cause I will continue to collect them physically)

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

Sometimes I fail to keep up not because of a lack of money or time to read, but because I simply forget about a series for a while (especially if I haven't preordered the next volume), or I put off reading a new volume because I'm not in the mood for it when it releases, and then, again, forget about it for a few months, after which another volume (or two) might be out.

Sometimes I "dread" getting started on a new volume (especially in the case of authors I don't yet trust not to mess things up), which might cause me to put it off for a while. Other times, I'm in the middle of a reread of a series, and want to finish that before picking up the latest volume, which, in the case of very long series, might take months, since I only reread in-between other stuff.

Then there are the times I end up dropping a series because the gap between volumes was too long, and I ended up forgetting everything about the series, aside from the fact that I didn't enjoy it enough that I'd want to reread it.

I read all digitally, so availability is not a problem for me. Prepubs here make it easy to keep up with things, yet some series don't read that well on this format and are better to read as full volumes (e.g., Grimgar, which I tend to read in batches.)

For non-prepubs volumes, I may read one or more volumes each week, but it depends on my mood for what and how many.

              Quof got a break.

I'm a pretty slow reader and tend to have a binging mentality for consuming media. I also don't really have anywhere to put physical copies of books, so I pretty much only buy digital stuff. Unless it is a series I really like (eg bookworm) I'll probably catch up to current and in a year or two when there are a bunch of new books I'll catch up again.

Living in a foreign country and in a dormitory. So digital books much better option for me. However, if i had an option, i would choose paper books.

8 parts, 8 weeks to read a book, than binge read the same book within' 2 hours again.

I tend to keep up with new releases once I've read through the entire rest. This means that starting late on a long ongoing series gives me a touch of leeway (although it also means that this month's preorders on bookwalker are going to crush any progress I've made on my "to-read list").

My grasp on sanity remains absolute.

In my case, I only have E-books (my last Physical is a copy of Mirai Nikki that bought a couple of years ago). but I have a bad habit to have both little extra spending money and a liking for series that are longer than time itself. Outbreak Company? 2/20 Volumes, Smahtphone? 1/20 Volumes, Book? 3/6 Volumes, Super Loli Nazi? 1/7 Volumes.

so, no, I khaaan't get up to my reading.

I wanted to have a witty signature once I saw some of the ones some guys on the Bookworm forums had but None of the ones I thought felt witty enough...

Yup. Buy any of the new releases that I'm following, regardless of whether or not I've caught up or not.

One of the reasons is because Yen Press novels is on sale in Canada on the Google Books store, always 7.99 VS 9.99, and I don't know when it'll go back to 9.99 again.

My backlog is enormous as a result.

I always keep up with the series I am reading. Or even plan to read. I would rather not look at my kindle collection (or hell even my physical collection) for books I still need to finish. Problem is I don't know when I have really some free time so it could be that I read three books over a weekend). And as I am someone who reads according to his mood I have sometimes 3-4 series started. So I always like to keep a variety of books at hand.

I only buy digital, so there are no problems with going out of print.

I'll almost always buy new volumes of series I'm reading as they come out. The exception is that I've sometimes (not often) waited to buy something when I know it's part 1 of a 2-3 part story arc. Then I might decide to wait until that arc is closer to being fully released.
