My Library suggestion - more info (dates, revision numbers, etc)
-
I'd originally posted this in a thread about one of the series (Smartphone V5, with a small error in the released premium epub), but as it is a website issue I figure I probably should start a thread for it in the right place, so here's a copy/paste...
How do we tell when there is a new version of the premium ebooks uploaded?
I just had a look in my library and there's no indication there, and the file name isn't any different when I started a download. I'd have to download it and open it and check the back for a revision number.
Might not seem like a big deal over one book, but if all the books in my library get 1.1 or 1.2 editions that's a lot of screwing around just to check if there has been an update.
I'd suggest having a date purchased/redeemed next to each title, and also a date and revision number for the latest updated version for that title.
That way at a glance people can see if there's any updated versions they should be downloading to replace their older outdated versions - seeing as we can't get push updates like Amazon et al.

A "this book has been updated since you last downloaded it" notice might be nice in that regard.

@smashman42 I think this is a great idea

hell I would just want a thread on the forum like the bonus content one. Where it is just a post each time with the main topic updated. I dont check twitter or anything like that just the forum so it would help.

That'd be a great thing in the mean time, but eventually it should be built into the library I think.
Also the pages where you can redeem a premium book for a credit should in theory have a listing of that the premium features of that volume are.
In both issues a forum thread with the first post updated is a good stop gap measure, but ideally from a customer's perspective the current IU of the website (and app) is very basic and looks to still be a beta thing.

I definitely agree with this idea. Some way of knowing about updates/revisions would be great!
I can live with a forum thread as suggested, but I think an update in our library would be the best way. You don't have to search thru the forums that way, just skim your library pages. -
On the topic of the library, I think some changes to it would be best. like instead of a list, it would be a grid. It can be shown in a grid so we the users don't have to scroll down to see all the book on the page. And to be able to organize the library would be nice, like being able to put books into different categories like "Downloaded" and "Not Downloaded." There would certainly be one thing that would be nice like being able to read the books we got in our library on JNC's site.

A simpler way is for it to show the list of series that you own and when you select a series a grid that contains all the volumes you've bought would appear and when you hover over it details would appear showing if it has already been Downloaded or it it was Updated and also showing the dates of when you bought, downloaded, or updated the book.

I would also appreciate if new revision would be anounced via RSS Feed, as this is my primary souces of infomration.
