I haven’t read Mixed Bathing yet, so I’ll probably try to get to that. I’ve been surprised at some of the positive reviews, so I’ll go in with an open mind.
It's basically a fairly standard story about someone who gets summoned into another world and gets an unusual ability set that he manages to use in creative ways to solve problems. It's just that the protagonist has this weird mental association of "to be friends, we must bathe together".
The other characters also think it's weird, but mostly in a "well, that's just a little eccentric" kind of way, rather than "wait, what?" So it ends up feeling like the author went looking for a random title generator for their light novel, came up with "Mixed Bathing", and ran with it. It helps if you just think of it as the protagonist's little odd ritual of friendship, especially since he doesn't seem to obsess over the fanservice (at least for now).
Personally I like it because the story handles the other summonees well. They come across each other now and again, and they get along and interact with each other as characters of their own, rather than plot devices. For example, the protagonist can't really handle the summonee who's the Traditional Hotblooded Hero, but that's just because the Hero is kind of impulsive and dumb, rather than because he's a bad person, and they're quite friendly with each other. The girl on most of the covers is the Saintly Heroine type of summonee, and probably the one who supports the protagonist the most. (There's also mention of an Otome Game Heroine summonee, but we haven't met her yet.)

@terabyte I have to agree with that second statement, sigh. I was really surprised how much I came to love Mixed Bathing, seeing as I avoided it for the longest time bc I judged it by the covers. And while yes, there are ecchi moments due to the bathing scenes, it is ironically a very wholesome series. The MC won't do anything without the girls' permission and consent.

As funny as Big Sis is most of the way through, that ending annoyed me so I'll probably reread Mixed Bathing, if I have time to reread anything.
-
@smashman42 Neechu's ending was anti-climatic, to put it mildly. I'm too busy reading all the new stuff to re-read anything right now, but if I were it would be Mixed Bathing.
-
I got book 1 but merely got the sense of "meh" while reading it, so discontinued from reading it. It wasn't a bad story, but it didn't compel me to read more.
Defo goona look up Mixed bathing this month :)

No spoilers but
In my personal opinion the story doesn't "git gud" till after they get to the dessert, so stick with it till then at least. (Volume 1 stuff)

Fully agree on Mixed Bathing being both being really good and suprisingly wholesome. Protag has his weird hangup but he refuses to push anyone past their own willingness to be exposed. To the point where he starts having bathing outfits that are meant to allow the girls to keep themselves covered in the post wash soak appear in his bath.
Plus he wont directly look at any of his female companions when they are in vulnerable situations unless they tell him to. Don't know if I would have had the same willpower at his age. -
I know we are waiting for Vol. 6 of Mixed Bathing to still be released, but are there any ideas to when that will be? I think I read a month or two ago somewhere that there was enough webnovel content out now to release the next volume, though for all I know it was just hearsay.
-
@chris-n there is enough material for a new Volume, however so far there is no official release date, so no idea when V6 will come out.
-
@rahul-balaggan
alright thanks, was just grasping for straws that maybe some info from the author was dropped that Vol 6 was in the works and would be out in the near future. -
Added September 2018 titles: Infinite Stratos & The Magic in this Other World is Too Far Behind!

The Magic in this Other World is Too Far Behind!
I'm too far behind on this series, so that's good.
Unfortunately, I got a lot to read this and next month (so many number ones expire in October), so I don't know how far I'll get.
-
@terabyte Heads up, the link for Infinite Stratos redirects to Mixed Bathing.
I might check out IS, just to see if it lives up to the infamous reputation it has.
-
@lazyproblems Ops, thanks for the report. Fixed it :)

I think people are a bit too harsh about the MCs denseness, at least early on; totally believable logic for a younger high schooler. He probably needs to get a doctor to clean his ears out though, lol.
I have more of a problem with the fact that not a whole lot happened story wise through 2 volumes, mostly just introducing a ton of characters.
-
@terrence Yeah, book one especially I didn't find him that much worse than most harem-goes-nowhere protags & you could pass it off as a young guy with not much confidence simply not believing all these girls could be into him.
Volume two however had me wanting to beat sense into him pretty quick.

@cosm1cfall Sleep is optional.

I've only watched the Infinite Stratos anime not read the LN, but it was more amusing than annoying there. They had fun trotting out the cliches like "childhood friend" and then piling on even more of them ("other childhood friend"? :) )
Series 2 of the anime went downhill for me, so if it followed the LNs I'd expect to be disappointed later on. But maybe that was the fault of the people adapting it.

@harmlessdave I haven't seen the anime so dunno how they line up, volumes vs seasons

October titles are finally updated. It says Ao Oni, Yume Nikki, and Unwanted Undead Adventurer!
