Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei (The Tatami Galaxy)

Since people are mentioning Kodakawa titles so I thought why not~

      alt text

Author: Tomihiko Morimi (Yoru wa Mijikashi Aruke yo Otome, The Eccentric Family)

I loved this anime when I first saw it and it's the reason why I started following Masaaki Yuasa anime.

      Synopsis:
One autumn evening at a mysterious ramen stand behind the Shimogamo Shrine, a lonely third-year college student bumps into a man with an eggplant-shaped head who calls himself a god of matrimony.
Meeting this man causes the student to reflect upon his past two years at college—two years bitterly spent trying to break up couples on campus with his only friend Ozu, a ghoulish-looking man seemingly set on making his life as miserable as possible.
Resolving to make the most out of the rest of his college life, the student attempts to ask out the unsociable but kind-hearted underclassman Akashi, yet fails to follow through, prompting him to regret not living out his college life differently.
As soon as this thought passes through his head, however, he is hurtled through time and space to the beginning of his years at college and given another chance to live his life.

Pretty sure Sam worked on the subs for the anime. =]

I don't know anything about it, and I like to stay in the dark when I can on an interesting looking LN. The art in the image looks great.

This anime was sooo bizarre. I loved it. Probably the best of that year. I would certainly pick up the novels if they made it here.

It's only one novel but you can always count "Yoru wa Mijikashi Aruke yo Otome" as spiritual sequel xD (and hope that someone licenses the two~)

We need all of Morimi Tomihiko's novels licensed. He is one of my favorite Japanese authors. He never fails to write an interesting story. One of his other novels "Penguin Highway" is also receiving an anime.

FYI though, none of his works are LIGHT novels. They are all regular novels.

                  Didn't know that~
Don't know the director but he's praised by Hosoda Mamoru so I think it will be nice~

                  Already know that~
                  I mentioned a few non-LN novels so far~

The Incite Mill (A death game/mystery novel by Hyouka's author)
Kuuchuu Buranko (which I think you will like including other Hideo Okuda work)

Same can apply to NisiOisiN's work and the latest Eiji Mikage's work you mentioned before.

@chrollo I am sorry to disappoint you but this wasn’t licensed.

Yen Press licensed The Night is Young, Walk on Girl & penguin highway

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

Spotlight time! A friendly bump to an older post that hasn't had any recent conversation and is lower on votes in order to draw attention to it.

YP license 2 Tomihiko Morimi novels, we get 2 movies for his books so close to each other yet no one wanna touch this one..

@bloodygaikotsu Well, the best way to convince Yen Press to pick up more Morimi is to hype the two they licensed. I translated Penguin Highway, which is out in March, and JK Haru's Emily Balistrieri translated Night is Short, Walk on Girl, which is out in June.

I'm getting those no matter what. If it helps bring this over, or more by the author, win-win.

Well, ofc, I'm getting them as soon as I can.
(And already experiencing Emily's hype on twitter...)
like among AX licenses, I was only jumping up and down (literally) over those two and Kokoro Connect lol

This anime was both my first Morimi and my first Masaaki Yuasa...so kinda wanna take a look at the book.

Was about to say that I don't remember anyone dealing with Gentosha but remembered that Haikasoru got Battle Royale (and there was Hetalia as well).

Hopefully this makes even more people want to buy it, this leading to Tomihiko Morimi gaining more popularity overseas and YP licenses more books....or people get fed up with delays and cancel their orders in spite, 1 or the other I guess...
