I’ve played some otome games a few years ago, so I’m quite interested in this novel, plus the art is really beautiful.

Sounds good, I would really like to read it!

You would think learning something from a book would be enough to just do it, right? But think hard about that, and you’ll realize that things really aren’t that simple. - Miya Kazuki

Found this while looking for information for a suggestion thread:

              alt text
An illustration of the female protagonists of different novels Futaba Hazuki did draw the illustrations for. For three of these novels J-Novel Club should be able to get the licenses.

Yes please, I adore the manga (and waiting impatiently for the next volume to come out) and would simply love to read the light novel it's based on. This at the top of my wishlist, please universe give this to us.

Oh, this one? This was one of the first WNs I tried reading, and I absolutely loved it! I stopped following it at some point because the translation was far from ideal, and since the manga was licensed I was sure that the official LN translation would follow eventually, but it's been years and there's still no translation. I guess, at this point I should just read the manga, or maybe try struggling through the WN again.

PS. This reminds me, maybe I should give Realist Hero another try. I remember trying to read the first volume, but, to be honest, the protagonist felt pretty uninteresting compared to Iris, so I dropped it.

I've gotten really hooked on the manga and definitely want to read the LNs. So take my upvote and hopefully my money as well!

I'm kind of sad that this hasn't been licensed yet by someone. The fans translating the novel have done their best, but it's still not an official translation.

After trying out the first two volumes of Realist Hero and being thoroughly disappointed by how obviously this wasn’t my thing despite the interesting premise (occasional sexist comments by the narration or characters, weird worldbuilding choices clearly influenced by a desire to insert standard isekai fanservice), it reminded me of how much more I loved this series for my fantasy politics fix.

I’d really love to see an English translation of this by J-Novel.

@floofboy If you want fantasy politics fix, you may want to try Ideal Sponger Life, first few parts are already out in prepubs. It is set in highly patriarchal setting, but uses it to advance the plot rather than to dump usual cliches.

Apothecary Diaries may fit, too, though it is more of pseudo-historical court drama.

@Wellwisher Huge fan of Apothecary Diaries, but not so much for the politics aspect, haha.

The cover combined with the first few pages of Ideal Sponger Life made me immediately mark it as “not my thing”, but I guess I’ll try reading through the first couple parts at least if it’s actually a politics story, thanks!

@floofboy The politics are mostly in the Aura-viewpoint scenes; she wanted a show husband so that she can navigate the political streams without having that extra wrinkle of "and my husband's trying to politically pressure me."

Oh, right, the poison, the poison for Kuzco, the poison chosen especially to kill Kuzco, Kuzco's poison. ...That poison?
