Twelve Kingdoms

Either way this series is actually one of the few Japanese novel series that I've read that has an incredibly deep and rich backstory to its world, politics, and characters.
If that's the case I'd definitely be up for trying it as well.
And it looks like this was another Tokyopop casualty? So it'd be another rescue?

it been 5 months since new 4 part novels released and WOW! on Amazon its´s way too well received!
-
I loved this back in the day and I would love to reread and read the books that never made it here. This series is a league of its own compared to other fantasy titles.
-
I have the TokyoPop translations, but am aching for more! The last time I read the first volume, I finished it in a single sitting. I really hope you can get your hands on the license. It's honestly my all-time favourite fantasy series.

This, along side "Seirei no Moribito", are the only light novels to rival Bookworm for me. Really wish J-novel would pick them up.
-
I'm definitely interested in this series! New editions are gorgeous! Is there hope?

There's always hope, but based on what's been said previously, I expect that it will ultimately depend on how well other, older series sell. As I understand it, that unfortunately has not been well in general, but Sam chose to take a risk with Slayers anyway with the most recent license announcements. So, maybe if Slayers manages to do well enough, that will help tilt the scales in favor of Twelve Kingdoms getting rescued. Regardless, buying series like Orphen, Full Metal Panic!, and Slayers is probably the best thing that anyone can do to encourage JNC to license an older series like this one.

I would love to see JNC pick up this series. I watched the anime and that led me to the books published by TokyoPop. I love my four little hard cover books and return to reading them every so often. In search of the rest of the stories I found a website that has all of the additional stories translated and he is working on the new books that have recently been published.
If JNC, or anyone else, doesn't pick up this series you can get good translations from the above sites. I would prefer JNC to get the series.
ADMIN: Please don't link to fan translations.

@thefirstpunicwar I believe it's against the rules to share fan translations. I think mentioning the existence of one is enough :D
I feel like, this will need an anime reboot or a remake to get the novel licensed.
-
I would cry tears of joy if this ever got rescued ;o;
-
Just wanted to added my voice to those who would love to see this license rescued.
-
I haven't read the novels, but the anime for this was absolutely amazing. Literally one of the best I've ever watched. I'd love to see this series on j-novel.

Adding my vote in 2021 for these wonderful novels.
Excellent world building, relatable characters, engaging story telling, and gorgeous art - what more can one ask!
-
Throwing in my vote for this as well

Well, I do enjoy reading the books, but the problem is I really enjoy reading Eugene Woodbury's translations and might find it hard to transition to another translator. I didn't enjoy the TokyoPop translations as much. I would be very happy to pay for a J-Novel Club release of it if they hired Eugene Woodbury for the project.
