Question to translators.

Hi.
A question to people who spend their time translating things from japanese to english and are also familiar with the gaming terms. Could anybody tell me what exactly is a "magic hand" supposed to be? The sentence lists various mediums for using magic and one of them is this 魔術手(コレはグローブ扱いになる)magic hand (treated as gloves) is what I'm getting and what the fan translator has gone with. But I can't really imagine it. Hope somebody has an idea. :) -
From what little context you've given, it sounds like a glove that is capable of using magic. It'd be more like "Magic Hand (glove-type equipment)", with "Magic Hand" being a proper noun, and it's something that takes up the "gloves" slot on your standard equipment screen.
To give a more accurate translation, though, we'd need a lot more context; the name of the story this originates from (so we can look up more info on it), the details on its settings and how magic works, and more of the surrounding text (ideally in its original Japanese), at least a paragraph's worth (though more is better).

@stardf29 Well, I was rereading Toaru Ossan no VRMMO Katsudouki when I came across this passage from near the beginning and it started bugging me since I couldn't figure out what it should look like. I'd like to think I have played my fair share of games and have never came across something like magic hand for invoking spells. Staff/wand, magic book aka grimoire, orb, amulet, ring sure. Gauntlets? But they are basically gloves. Cuffs, sleeves? Just seems weird. I was hoping someone who has translated lots of light novels has come across this term before. :)
The guy himself is playing archer/ranger type with wind magic as support so as far as I remember this doesn't come up anymore, but there are a bit over 100 chapters translated so I might be wrong. :) The passage is from the start of the book when he practices his skills, I can give you the whole practicing wind magic part if you want but I doubt it would be much help. And wouldn't it be considered a copyright violation? -
Actually, gloves are used quite often in occult rituals, mythically. It's one of the common ritual tools you see in actual medieval occultism, along with cups and wands and a few other things. It's all about imagery. Probably drawing on that a bit.
