The anime is pretty OreImo/Eromanga Sensei like. Though to paraphrase Gigguk, it is trash and so am I, so I'll upvote.

Or are you saying the LN version of it is a more serious story, say like A Sister is All You Need that superficially seemed like incest haremshite but was actually more than that, cause I'd dig that too.

Since I enjoyed Eromanga & A Sister is All You Need was really looking forward to this one, but man is the anime bad (atleast 2 episodes in), one can only hope the LN is better.

On a side note though, the manga is better than the anime (atleast the beginning of it) so maybe just the anime isnt all that great.

Well, one of the big issues with the anime is the absolutely terrible animation/art quality in ep. 2, but thankfully that isn't an issue with the original LN (illustrations look nice overall).

It's still not really the kind of LN I'd upvote for but I won't be adverse to trying it out if it gets licensed.

While the animation wasn't fantastic, I still enjoyed the story that the anime was telling.

I usually don't enjoy little sister stories, but I actually got interested in this. I dunno about its market potential though.

The animation quality looks low-cost enough, and the story is so-so. I think it's kind of a mashup between OreImo, Eromanga and ImoSae (Imouto is all I need), it's like the author was a fan of imouto novels himself and decided to write one xD

Anime is getting delayed episode because they are crying for help literaly,Each episode quality is dropping but it doesn´t mean that LN is not good+the art here is very cute:D

When your anime is THAT bad, it probably means a death sentence for any chances of official translation for the source.

Well, the anime for this one exists in the space of being so bad it is fucking amazing thanks to the animation but otherwise is pretty great IMO and I'd love to see some imouto trash getting licensed for once in LN form. Upvoted.

Today, anime adaptations are mostly just publicity for the base material, in this case LN. Something people always say, all types of publicity is good publicity. Even if something is bad, people will give it attention. People might buy it just to try it out. People might go on forums and say how bad the series is and others, out of pure curiosity will try the series and maybe like it. I honestly dont think the anime has that BIG of an impact on the LN - sure, it can help, but it isnt the driving force. Look at Isekai Smartphone or Blesser of Einherjar - both had atrocious anime adaptations but Sam stated multiple times the books are selling very good. You also have to consider another thing when talking about the anime of My Sister, My Writer. From what I've seen, people are only complaining about the animation, not the story - so that is already a big plus.

If I remember correctly, Einherjar's anime adaptation didn't really help the sales.

@novurdim From what i remember it did help, just not on the same level that "How Not to Summon a Demon Lord" got a boost in sales.

Well, maybe. My memory is hazy, I kind of remember the old CC answer from Sam about how bad anime adaptation can even hurt sales so I could have projected it on the Einherjar.

@novurdim Think it was on the light novel podcast where they had Sam on it, he said that when an anime came out, there would be a boost in sales, and then when it finished, there was another boost in sales. Both demon lord and ragnarok saw both boosts (if my memory serves me correctly), just ragnarok was on a smaller scale and returned to normal sale numbers quicker.

I only compared those 2 because they were in the same season and Sam talked about them both in relation to this on the podcast.

@timmaaah well i think that bad anime dont effect sales badly if its light novel is already available in english before anime comes out. By this even if the anime is bad, it will not effect sale as it already have readers who follow it. They know the quality of LN so they will countinue to read it. It may gain some more readers who want to try LN but they are only some. Other people who watched anime first would want to avoid LN.

In this LN case anime comes out 1st so most people would like to avoid the source because of there 1st impression (except some people).

You can now stop reading rest comment as it is about why i think so.

I write this as my personal exp. I wanted to read ragnarock after reading its plot. But then i see its anime is comming next season so i waited to watch it. After seeing anime i decided to never touch its LN. Some people try to tell me that its LN is good (even i know that i cant judge a ln after watch anime). I even try to read ch 1 part 1(which is free on jnc) but due to anime memory i was not able to read even 1 page.
So to sum up I, who was thinking to buy and get into this novel, never look at it after seeing its bad anime.

I, for one, don't really care how well anime does or how bad it is, and it doesn't influence my willingness to read the LN in negative way. On the contrary, it can only make me more interested in reading the original. It's a completely different medium after all. Anyway, I'd be interested in that one.

                                          I like the anime
and (like a couple of other titles suggested) it's a genre underrepresented at JNC, Romance/comedy slice of life w/o supernatural elements

Sam - take my monies for this...

that's a shame (re ragnarok) I find the LN to be quite enjoyable (and I cringed when watching the anime---so bad)
