I felt the toad fight was lacking. They need to have a consulting director who normally does shonen battle anime to call in for the occasional action sequences. (This one was worse than the Lord of Winter fight, but better than the trombe fight. But even the LoW fight was lacking pizzaz.)

The discussion with Eckhardt at the end speaks to a point I've made before: if the story was told with Ferdinand as the main character, Myne totally fills the Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope for Ferdinand. Although he constantly complains, he really enjoys the chaos she brings into his life.

My anime-only spouse was pointing out how the current season of the anime is lacking the emotional resonance that the earlier seasons had. I pointed out that they are ripping through plot at warp speed such that it's a story told in bullet points unlike before. The episode to page count ratio is so much lower than would be preferable.

Reading Bookworm, Bibliophile, and Dahlia. Also, Girl Genius, xkcd, Witch Hat, Harpy Gee, and Suitor Armor. Looking for suggestions.

There seems to be a mistranslation. In the replenishment chamber, Syl gives a stone to Wilfried and tells him "pour mana into here", but he should be pulling mana out of the stone.

I loved the illustration at the end this time.
The replenishment hall was nice. But somehow I felt it was lacking. Maybe I am too influenced by witch hat atelier anime which was airing and wanted to see something more fantastic.

This (ep 16) is the first episode of volume 4. So we have 8ish episodes left to finish volumes 4 and 5. This is way too rushed.

                Well this episode was interesting...

                Bonifatius appears,
The sequence of events was changed (the Platin company was named before presenting Brigitte's new dress).
                The introduction of Stenluke.
And the discussions of the Tuuli situation.

The lower city part was weird and abrupt. I don't think plantin company spinning off from gilberta upset Tuuli so much in the LN.
They also didn't focus on the difference in Lehenge and Leherl (of course the subtitles looked like it was MTL'd).

The mana leaking out of rozemyne and Wilfried while replenishing seems like they are on fire. Again, a weird choice. Stenluke creation was funny and nicely done.

The end illustration of sparkly Ferdinand was so beautiful. I wonder if it is his rejuvenation potion in the spoon.

                    Probably his one true love.

                      It's definitely consommé.

                        Bonifatius appears,

Anime Boni seemed much more ... craggy (?) and less broad than LN illos of Boni.

If Damuel is proposing next episode then they're going to ignore all the mana growth work he put in and the Illgner trip?

@arghc This is around the point where Damuel proposed to Brigitte in the LN.

Today in Erhenfest Love Stories, we see the story of how Damuel saved Brigitte from an idiot arogant morron.
We also see the begining of the "Make Stories about Ferdinand Squad" and the planning for the next phase.

Illgner was really beautiful and reminded me of rural Japan. The sky was magical when Damuel and Brigitte spoke in the night.
Looks like the mana compression lesson and effective use of Mana was compressed into one session.
It is nice that they touched upon operation Grimm even in this bullet points pace.

Lohenberg gathering was too short and rushed IMO. Though they captured all the essential details, it seemed like there was something missing.

In Illgner, there is a young woman with orange hair who normally stands near gramps. If the grey-priest-romance sub-sub-plot doesn't get cut, I'm picking that she's the one, just because she is being subtly often present in not-quite-foreground.

My town planning and architecture criticism:

Illgner's noble estate has the classic faults of flat roofs and not enough chimneys (in fact, none). The town has huge open areas, but chooses to build multistory where they do build, and there are no paved streets. There is no apparent reason why the town is built where it is: I'd expect a river in this geography. (Does the LN mention a river?)

On the flight home they pass a town on a river with a bridge. There is no sign of a road leading to or from the bridge. There is a river town, but it has no docks. Less significantly, I wouldn't expect such a town to be split so evenly by the river --- one side should be much more built up than the other.

                                      Yes:

A short climb down a hill beside the giebe’s mansion led us to a smallish river, (P3V4 Staying in Illgner)

@Libri-Liberorum this universe has an excuse for flat roofs though, at least for noble residences. There are two reasons for avoiding flat roofs. The biggest reason by far is avoiding accumulation of snow, as the weight of snow can collapse a roof. If you are far enough south not to be concerned about excessive snow accumulation, or the building is so structurally sturdy that it can sustain any amount of snow that could occur in the area, or you are willing and able to send people up on the roof to clear the snow the roof doesn't need to be sloped. White Stone buildings meet condition 2, commoner servants or magic work for condition 3 in this setting.

The second reason for avoiding flat roofs is drainage and sealing. It is difficult to keep a roof watertight enough that it can hold up to water accumulating on the roof and staying there, it has a tendency to find any tiny gap and create new ones if it doesn't, so flat roofs require more maintenance and drainage considerations. Again, white Stone buildings solve this problem, and even if they didn't, commoner servants can do the extra maintenance.
