Seeing how the Veronica faction is acting here makes me want to punch them all in the fucking face. Can't wait to see the decree come up next episode...
Just small clarification for those who did not read novel. That meeting did not took place in the Temple. I will refrain for saying anything else in order not to accidently spoil things :)

I was just thinking about when Myne touches babies they always cry. Is it possible that babies instincively fear her due to high amount of mana she has?
-
@sekki, I've got various theories about children (born and unborn) in the Bookverse that it wouldn't be appropriate to air in this thread, but thanks for pointing something out that I'd somehow missed completely before. Does she subconsciosly try to put her mana into them and their bodies then fight back?

I thought it was just (running) comedy.
It's been long enough ago when I first read the books that the events in the anime occasionally surprise me. In particular to this episode, evil santa is much more of a stooge (puppet?) that just goes along with the evil cabal than I remembered

It most likely is but it does not stop us from speculating :)

@arghc - He was a stooge in the books, too. I recall his inner monologue wrestling with the possibility that he might be a stooge, and he decided in the end to reframe his perspective to stop seeing himself as a stooge.

I think most of this is that the meeting is severely cut down in the anime. The LN gives it a full chapter, with more people around, more dialogue, and insight into Bezewanst's thoughts about himself and those he's meeting with. The anime, due to time constraints, has to cut this down to just a couple minutes with the dialogue cut down to only the essential, expository parts. For example, in the LN the black stone is a response to his specific excuses for not bringing Myne with him, so it feels like he has more authority. That and he specifically mentions how everyone there is sucking up to him due to his sister.

The babies cry out because they can feel their fates are being twisted, as if their childhoods are being corrupted to revolve around books...

I love seeing the comments of LN-naive watchers, I think they are adorable. Someone was worried that Dirk had chickenpox with last week’s cliff hanger.
-
@marcus_atticus Delia wishes it was chicken pox.
Also... fuckin' Arno, man. I tell ya what.

Arno has a rather twisted personality, especially in regard to what gives him enjoyment.
He knew damn well he wasn't supposed to share anything with Delia, although I'm sure he'd claim he had no specific orders to that effect. -
@Weasalopes I mean, you and I, we've read the LNs, we know that Arno's a fucker. That bastard's gonna get what's coming to him.
-
@TheGrimLich
Well, yes.
It's not a subject for speculation since I know what's going to happen.I came up with some lovely lines, too.
But I can't use them. All I could do was comment on stuff arguably clear from 'the story up until now' as told in the anime.

Upon further reflection that baby crib was more or less a tragedy waiting to happen huh?

Child, struggling to learn to roll over, placed upon what is effectively a table with no raised lip.
Everyone responsible for him is looking the opposite direction, all their attention on greeting someone who just entered the room. You know what's going to happen.
Delia has every reason to be furious and feel they can't be trusted to watch over Dirk.
Seriously, she does. -

Seriously, she does.Yeah, Delia's anger was beyond reproach there.

Reread/skimmed the Arno-Delia stuff from the LN and there was no nefarious meeting at the well, although, from the re-read one might suspect that Arno's message from Ferd about adoption was meant for Myne and Myne alone, not broadcast to her chambers and whoever might be in earshot.
From the anime alone, I was thinking: gee, Arno must be a lipreader to know about the anti-eavesdropped conversation about adoption.
From both sources, though, one can only conclude that (1) Ferd is a terrible judge of character to trust the eminently untrustworthy Arno with so much (primary attendant) and for so long (2) I was thinking that he should have passed the message in a sealed envelope but then realized that in Bookverse, that'd be an excessively expensive enterprise. Normal nobles would ordinaze (sp!) and Myne can't yet... so message board in a sealed box? You could make an envelope out of parchment or fabric for a wooden board and seal it with wax...

@TheGrimLich I didn’t know Bowlcut-kuns name is Arno (j/k)! I ugly cried when I saw him referred to with such name on Reddit.
