Latest s3 preview!
So, April... in Japan? Are they simultaneously working on the subs/dubs? How quickly will Crunchyroll be delivering for us? 8-)
-
@arghc subs are almost always simultaneous (Netflix jail being the exception). Dub is a LOT more variable. Sometimes it'll start up during the season, other times it'll be years later.

Given the option, I usually watch subs anyhoo, so that works for me. That said, was there delay between Japan and Crunchyroll on season 2 (one assumes it's different after its popularity was apparent).

Really? I thought I watched it as it came out, and I can't see any difference between the release date on MAL and the dates Crunchyroll has for its episodes.

Oops, missed the question mark. That wasn't a statement.

@axehand They already said Season 3 is going to the end of Part 2 Volume 4. It's only 2 volumes to cover, they can make that in 12 epsiodes, easy. Season 2 covered the first 2 volumes of Part 2 in that many.
-
@georgemto I mean... that's about what the picture in Fanbook 1 (I believe) looked like. Fairly certain it was FB1.
-
@thegrimlich yeah that came up on the discord as well. Honestly, I didn't really look overly much at the rough character sketches in the fanbook, they don't interest me that much.
And even comparing them directly, I think the colour and animation make him much uglier than that sketch. -
@pcj Absolutely. What I was wondering though is whether this will be a split-cour with seasons 3 and 4 back-to-back. The numbering gets out of whack under those circumstances and the original AoaB set is sometimes referred to as season 1 (24 episodes) or seasons 1 & 2 (12 episodes each). Mushoku Tensei (just aired) for example is referred to as Season 1 Parts 1 & 2 of 12 episodes each. Given the popularity of AoaB it is a possibility as well as possibly wishful thinking :)

Some new visuals were released today, but I don't know how they ever thought it was a good idea to release those particular ones because they give a few games away.
And apparently the ED is by Maaya Sakamoto, so does that mean there's a bigger budget now?

If it's the outfit I'm seeing they don't, actually, that's Myne's Spring Prayer outfit.

The rest of Part 2 is confirmed to take 10 episodes from the BD Box Set on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B09TRG6DMY

@lurkingmclurk Hmm, not a fan of that. They barely did the first two volumes in 12 episodes, and they're trying to do the next 2 in just 10? At best they're saving the side stories from P2V4 for OVAs or the beginning of the next season, which they kind of did for P1V3. Worst case they're abridging as much as possible to get to a more solid ending, maybe since they know they're not getting another season.
-
Cutting away all the short story chapters would make 10 episodes make some sense. Maybe they just have no plans to continue the anime ever, so they think that they do not need any tie-ins for the next season. If they just want people to go and read the books it makes sense. However, if they are publishing this season to try to sell more part 3 manga, I feel like that short story content would be rather important to tie things together better. I hope there's some way that the 10 episodes make sense, because as it is, I find it hard to see how so few episode would be able to deliver everything that is necessary. Maybe we are missing a piece of the puzzle or something.
Anyway, Bookworm getting the third season is already a small miracle, so let's be happy with it. Since a full adoptation was never realistic, they've gotta end it somewhere, and I feel like end of part 2 is a rather good place to call it quits.

Especially if they want to keep the anime kid friendly (for lack of a better phrase) and not get bogged down with politics and such. I just hope the anime is left in a good place whenever it does end and not like Yona of the Dawn anime (on a cliffhanger with no word on a new season for years)
