@cosm1cfall The anime still has one episode to run. It covers the main story upto volume 5, but a lot of content has been cut such as the side stories that make up half of volumes 4 & 5.

@cosm1cfall I'd recommend starting from volume 1, there's some details that are relevant down the line and the world building is pretty solid. They're pretty fast reads

I've come to read and like the light novel after I've watched the first episodes of the anime and flipped a few pages through the manga. Currently I've started reading volume 4 and can't wait for episode 13 to be aired.

Now that the final episode is out, I guess my 2¢ is that the anime basically played out as expected. It so closely matched my expectations for an adaptation that I don't have any comments about it. On its own, it gets a passing grade for entertainment, but since it only passes it's not going to have any long term influence. It's unfortunate, but strict translation of literature to screen can only result in a disservice to both the screen and to the story being told.
