Improve the prepub reader
-
like the title say , the prepub reader is awful to use on pc . I dunno if there's already a topic about it so I opened one .
-
While there probably have been topics raised in the past, you're probably going to want to list out specific enhancements you want or the particular gripes you have, whether it's for the manga reader or the LN reader, etc. Just a general "make it better" type thing tends to invite all sorts of problems if they revamp it, but nothing you wanted fixed gets upgraded.

The reader burns through battery on my phone.
-
- Dark mode on the web prepub reader.
- Vertical scroll reader.
- Spacing settings (line spacings, left-right margin, etc.)
-
Dark mode on web reader would be nice. Also, I don't know if this happens for everyone, but if there's like a really long shout or something that takes up more than one line, instead of forming like a paragraph it bleeds onto the following "pages" for me, making the lines it overlaps with unreadable.
-
1 -Please, in the "series content" please, put chapter names, instead of repeating the title of the novel and then something like "volume 2 part3".
It,s dificult to find a chapter you want to re-read.2 - And option to Turn pages, instead of having to scroll, it´s tiresome.
3- Use the volume buttons to advance while reading (like the kindle app)
4- A scrollinf option, that shows how long we are in the text, and that allows to skip to any part of the text.

@stalepizza Oh man, the current "Dark Mode" on the web reader is a complete joke. It makes everything EXCEPT the paginated area dark, making the whole feature pointless.
Another feature missing might be adjusting the height & width of the reader, or having it fill the screen. Instead it appears that the reader's height is automatically calculated from the height of your screen, instead of allowing us to adjust it ourselves.

The Android app has many issues too.
-
pages eventually stop loading as I read, and have to back out and resume. Happens at least twice per prepub release.
-
the paragraph right before an image never ever loads. So I have to open the web reader, go to that page, and then move back to the app to continue. Been doing this almost since the begining.

I think what happens here is that the image sometimes overlaps with the paragraph before it, depending on the size of your screen (Doesn't happen on my phone, but happens on my Chromebook laptop screen)

As Feb. 18 2020, I have encountered a bug where I'm unable to read from my browser, the reader loads and shows the first page without a problem, but if I press the "next page" button it jumps to the "credits" page where they offer other books to read. After trying out a lot of configurations, it's sure to say the following:
- The reader loads all the text but it overflows from the first page making it impossible to change pages if (due to) everything loads in the first page.
- The reader have serious issues with alignment and page configuration.
- It happened in Firefox and Edge.
- I cleared memory and cookies to ensure that it wasn't a local configuration problem.
-
Just to add feedback, the Sepia mode is a bit light but is an improvement on white on black. I have an issue where if the phone turns it resets back to the first paragraph.
Neither of these are the end of the world, but I'm unsure where else to report this. This is with the iOS app. -
I agree, the current web reader isn't exactly good to the point where I actually read the parts in the Reader Mode of my browser - It has infinite vertical scroll, real dark and sepia modes, margin settings, bigger images and it even remembers the settings without me having to redo them for every part. There are cons tho - sometimes there are no chapter headings and no ⋄⋄⋄-separators, so it'd be nice if the website got some of these things.

The scaling on the prepub gives me the hardest time, on my laptop it just decides to resize everything with no notice and then at the end of the chapter it leaves a number of blank pages.

Re-posting this. I recommend using this extension if you're using chrome
Unlike when you try to zoom directly from the browser, this will get the job done right!
-
@alanoud Problem is I haven't been zooming in or out?
-
@darkapostle I remember it not working the first 10 minutes or so when I installed it for the first time, then it started working. I don't remember what I did though. Try closing the browser and opening it again.

As someone already mendtioned the iOS app I just want to confirm it. If you forgot to set on ypur phone the orienation lock you get always thrown back at the beginning of the prepub if you change (out of an error) the orientation.
also why does the app forget so often my credentials? I read a preub of a series and if I go immediatelly to another series it logs me out (although seldom but this is really nerve wrecking). I could understand if I did not use it for a long period of time but while changing to something else to read?
Also I don't find it intuitive that when I change to manga I need to go back to novels, click on series and then again on Manga if I want to get the series main page.
Then it happens sometimes that if I change to another app and go back to the reader that it only shows a blank page. I need to close the app and restart it to get back to the prepub.
Also slightly infuriating. Why can we not see directly the changing font size, etc when we change something in the settings? I know we see the example text but I would prefer if the prepub changes so I can verify more easily if this is really the size I want.

This drove me nuts for forever, till I discovered that if you switch the app to vertical scroll instead of horizontal pages, both those problems go away.

Honestly I just wish the pre pub reader, had at least some of the schedule up for the day at least.
