So what is the benefit of becoming a premium member?
Do you translate all the volumes, including side stories, extra published stories in other magazines of the same light novel etc. ? -
Premium membership allows you to buy premium credits for $1 cheaper, and you automatically pay for 1 credit each month with the cost of the premium membership. You also get access to the premium member forum and a special color on our Discord. Otherwise, both memberships have access to the same streaming parts and can buy the same premium ebooks.

Hello!
Let’s discuss regular membership before we discuss premium membership:
With a regular membership you gain access to the latest volume of all the series J-Novel Club is currently translating.
This also includes all titles currently available on “catch-up”.
You see after a book is fully translated and shortly after the ebook is released that volume goes into a vault, and becomes unavailable for subscribers, every month a number of titles are put up for subscribers to “catch-up” on, these may be titles they may have missed, or fallen behind on, here is a link to which titles are on catch-up this month.
With a premium membership you get the same but you also get a premium credit every month, a premium credit allows you to purchase any e-book available on J-Novel Club in a premium fashion. You also get to purchase premium credits at a discounted rate of $6/credit, literally the cheapest option available on any e-boom platform. There are a few more small benefits described by Myskaros above.
What makes it premium?
- unlimited DRM free downloads
- the highest resolution images of any e-book store
- exclusive content not available in the normal releases (even in Japan)
This includes content like bonus short stories & Bonus illustrations & more!
We even have this handy-dandy list of what book has what premium content.

I have not understood it properly.
I am new user here.I have a question:
Is it better to subscribe to a premium membership here or is it better to buy a e-book online?Now, suppose I want to read High School DxD light novel here, ( I used to read it on baka-tsuki before it was abandoned) will this site have all the volumes translated up to date with the side stories, and other extra stories published in other magazines available to read here?
When I started on baka-tsuki, there were all the volumes available with also the list of extra stories and where it was taken from?
So my question is, whether it is available here, if I subscribe to a premium membership?
Also, how much would you charge per month for the premium subscription?
Is it also possible to download the chapters I read here in a pdf format, so that it is possible for offline reading, as that is what I prefer.

@Hell-Breaker
Understood, there seems to be some misunderstanding here, J-Novel Club is not a scanilation site, it is a professional official localization company/website/subscription service.
They legally license series from Japan to translate and sell outside of Japan in English, here is a list of titles they currently publish.
So if you subscribe you do not get access to titles that J-Novel Club has not legally licensed, like High school DxD, that is licensed by Yen Press.
Additionally if you did subscribe you could not download anything right away, you would still have to purchase the ebook.
In this case you may be better off buying the ebooks from amazon, iBooks, google play books, or whichever ebook platform you prefer.
Lastly, I would like to say that if you do subscribe you can purchase series directly from J-Novel Club, and those books would be DRM Free, and may contain the bonus short stories tiny seem to want. However those DRM Free versions. An only be purchased by current subscribers, premium or normal.

So only the novels undertaken by this site can be read?
Are there no illustrations provided, for each volume of the light novels you translate?
Is it not possible to download the light novels I read here in a pdf format? -
@Hell-Breaker
Correct only series that J-Novel club has licensed with tech Japanese publisher will be available on this site.
Yes, the series that have illustrations in the Japanese editions also have illustrations here on the site and in the final ebook product.Sorry I misunderstood that part, please go this this page, for a complete list of titles J-Novel Club currently publishes.
No, on this site, if you purchase a premium ebook, it can be download only in ePub for art, however you can convert it however you please into any other format.
-
@Hell-Breaker said in A doubt!:
So only the novels undertaken by this site can be read?
Once again, we are a publishing company, and we allow people to read the books we translate as they're being translated. You can't read other companies' books as they're being translated because we're not translating them.
Are there no illustrations provided, for each volume of the light novels you translate?
Black and white insert images are included in the streaming parts. Color images are only included in the final ebook release.
Is it not possible to download the light novels I read here in a pdf format?
No, we only release our books as ebooks (and some series in print), and those can be purchased on standard retail sites like Amazon, Kobo, etc., or on our site using Premium Credits. Reading books as they're being translated with a membership is through our website or app.

@Rahul-Balaggan
Is there any difference in price if I purchase from here or from other sites like Amazon? -
@Hell-Breaker It depends what membership tier you choose. If you become a regular member ($5 a month), credits are $7 each, which is the same price as Amazon and other stores. If you are a premium member ($11 a month), credits are $6.
-
@Hell-Breaker
The ebooks are almost all priced at $7/ebook on amazon (only 1 exception)
On this site you must have an active subscription, normal members pay the same $7/ebook, premium members pay $6/ebook.
The added bonus is on this site you get it DRM free, and you get the premium content I mentioned earlier.
-
@LegitPancake
Another question!
If I become a regular member, not a premium one, does that mean I won't be able to read side stories, or extra stories published along with the light novel volumes? -
@Rahul-Balaggan
What is DRM? -
@Hell-Breaker
Any side stories, or bonus stories not published in the Japanese ebook is not available for subscribers at any tier.
You must purchase the premium ebook to obtain those stories.
-
@Rahul-Balaggan
So like, if extra stories of the same light novel are published in different magazines, it will not be picked up and translated? -
@Hell-Breaker
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management
Basically it is a way that companies lock their products so users can not own it forever, J-Novel Club premium editions are free or DRM, so you buy to own.
-
@Rahul-Balaggan
So that means if I became a regular member, there will not be any chapters locked of a particular light novel volumes, saying that it is only accessible to premium members? -
@Hell-Breaker Correct. All streaming parts are available to both regular and premium members.
-
@Hell-Breaker
So to keep this simple, J-Novel does not publish or translate based on magazine content, they go off of the final ebook.
So whatever is in the final Japanese ebook is what they will always get, if any specials in different magazines make it into that ebook we get it too, if not, we do not.
-
@myskaros
Thank you.
That means, if I become a regular member, I can read all stories, without having to worry that it would be locked saying that it is only available to premium members.If so, that is quite a relief.
