A Trope common in LN/Manga/Anime that I wish was real in real life.

For this thread, I'm talking about something that is actually possible in real life but currently doesn't exist. At least, I'm not sure if there is anything out there like that.
That is the trope where games have these amazingly nuanced and free form crafting systems. The player's skill and understanding make it so they can craft things of different levels based on skill. One smith can make a sword with better skill than another using the same materials because they have more skills in the game. They can create new items by combining any ingredients, some more effective than others.
I've never really seen a video game with that kind of freedom/complexity, though. I'm most familiar with Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy 14, and both of those games are pretty pale in comparison to what you see in anime. In ESO you can make potions by combining any regents, but the final product is very limited in the actual effects you can get. The other crafting skills are pretty formulaic. An average player could get max level in every crafting skill in probably just a couple of days. Maxing out the skills is just a matter of waiting for research to finish. Not very exciting on that front.
Final Fantasy 14 has a much more skill-based crafting system, but what you can craft is limited to the recipes your level unlocks and a handful of skill books. It's also not so difficult to master that there aren't tons of people with maxed on crafting in each skill. The actual limiter in crafting in FF14 is grinding up your combat levels enough to move on to the next section of the world, and that is an extremely boring grind if you just want to do some crafting with the little time you have to game each week.
Anyway, I'm sure a lot of it has to do with game balance that they need in RL that anime/LN/Manga can just ignore. Having an 8 step refinement process mini-game that leads to god tier potions would destroy game balance in an actual MMO.
Anyone else come across those kinds of tropes when reading and just go, why can't this be real!?

I'm jealous of all the VRMMO players who have zero latency game connections over the Internet without latency spikes, dropped connections or other common Internet issues plaguing the real world. And since players are typically all over the world, I can tell they're using FTL communication. Being able to pull off millisecond precision moves without any problems ever...

Just wait for Starlink to go live.

Are you familiar with the Atelier series of games? They have a focus on crafting. They have some of the characteristics you mentioned, but I'm not sure if they are as detailed as what you are imagining. Near the end of the game when your character has higher skills you can make better quality items with the same ingredients as earlier in the game at the lower skill level.

@strangeattractor I'm not familiar with Atelier. I just looked up Atelier Ryza guide (thicmastergeneral, lol) and that is kind of what I'm talking about, but more in a MMO style game.

The good guy wins.

Love conquers all/love heals all or the power of friendship can overcome anything. ๐
My other choice would be that dying in a traffic accident means you'll be reincarnated in a fantasy world ๐

The good guy does win. It's a proven fact and an obvious corollary to an other fact.
- The history books are written by the winners.

Whoever died by accident got isekai-ed for sure. Just no one has come back to prove it yet.

that bookish-nerdy average guys somehow cause groups of desirable females to fight for his affections ...my high school days would've been much different
