Bootleg Licensed JNC content on Amazon
-
So, I was poking around Amazon, I know that I am speaking of something contentious but hear me out, and ran across a bootleg copy of the "Black Summoner" manga on Amazon and downloaded it thinking that it was the JNC release. After checking I'm finding that JNC didn't release this title yet, not even on their own website. So I need to ask "WHAT'S UP"?
Here is the link to the item in question if JNC feels the need to investigate.

Looking at the all the things sold from that "author", it seems like all bootlegged scanlation. Do amazon just sells anything from anybody?
-
It's ironic that Amazon is okay with having illegal manga scans on their store while they're de-listing legally released LNs without stating the reason. I'm sure both of these went through the same so called Amazon Guidelines but the illegal one stayed while the legal one was de-listed.

@hiroto
Like I said, I saw it, purchased it and then realized right away that this is not JNC. But, I know that it's definitely licensed by JNC so I figured they would need to know so I posted about it. -
@BartzBB
Definitely a bit of Hypocrisy there but what can you do. I will let JNC decided what they need to do about this since it is them who hold the license for the material. As a paying subscriber I have done my due diligence. -
@lighthawk96 If you haven't, I'd suggest that you report it to Amazon and ask for a refund. That way, you can at least get your money back, whereas simply getting JNC to complain may or may not result in you getting your money back when Amazon finally does pull it down.

Not the first time such contents appear there. Although I am still not sure if "Martial God Asura" really was approved by the author or not (but never checked).

@Kalessin
I can do that. But it was only 3.00 so it really isn't that big of a deal to me. I will be glad to pay that if it gets the content removed and help JNC. But I can at least lodge the complaint with Amazon. -
@Kalessin
On second thought, given the ongoing troubles with Amazon I think I will take a wait and see approach with this matter. I don't want to make an already bad situation worse. It was only 3.00 and this is a "buyer be ware" market. So, I might have to file this one under a bought lesson is a taught lesson. -
@lighthawk96 I very much doubt that it will make anything worse to report bootleg stuff being sold, since historically, Amazon hasn't taken kindly to that sort of behavior, but do whatever you think is best. Either way, as long as a staff member sees this thread (which they presumably will), JNC will then know about the issue and can bring it up with Amazon.

@Kalessin
Good point. -
The original right holder of those publication are all over the places. I chose the largest publishers and reported the following two directly to them.
Kodansha

Kadokawa

@hiroto
Cool deal. I got conformation to report this to Amazon so that has been done. I also requested a refund. hopefully this will be taken down. -

I'd request a refund anyway. It might only be $3, but I wouldn't want to let what's probably a fraudulent store keep what amounts to almost pure profit by probably ripping those images off an aggregation site from the group that was scanlating the series before JNC licensed it.

@jpwong
I did request the refund and reported it. It's all up to Amazon now. -
There are a ton of Berserk manga ripoffs too selling for a couple bucks or free with kindle unlimited. Not even scanlations, but stolen Dark Horse translations. I've reported some of them but not long after new ones pop up. Amazon really needs better rights verification.

Yes. But it seems that this person has no conscious. I don't get why people do this but it will only serve to hurt the industry. I guess since this is a growing genre and demand us increasing people feel the need to cash in no matter the cost. -

He (or she) just sees an opportunity to make a quicky buck.

@saskir
Exactly. If this were me doing this, I would be caught instantly and would have the book thrown at me in order to make an example of. Which is why I would never even make an attempt at something like this.
