I have encountered a bug, where titles that are longer than 3 lines are cut off by the "days ago" text.

Is there a way to view the release calendar from the app?

The CSS in the app seems buggy. Sometimes, the app decides to center everything, which I assume is because body{text-align: left;} isn't defined in the CSS. Normally this shouldn't be an issue, but I've seen EPUB readers do the same if text-align isn't set.

Also there's random gaps between the first line of a paragraph and the second, which looks distracting. This doesn't seem to be an issue in the web viewer, so either there's an issue with the CSS in the app or the HTML renderer.

@kah0922 Both of these issues stem from the fact that unlike the web reader, the app one isn't just rendering html, it's converting html into native app text elements in Flutter.

A long time ago, yes, I just ran an embedded web-browswer frame that rendered html, but it was extremely slow. This iteration of the app we have to essentially parse the html and create our own mini renderer (that's obviously very limited).

The alignment issues happen when the original HTML isn't perfectly parsed (often because it's somewhat ill formed), which browsers are happy to ignore, and the little extra space for example has to do with how we add the paragraph indenting, etc.

Upgrading all this in the reader of the app is on our roadmap, it's a non-trivial thing to do which also trying to keep it performant.

This was reported already, but the large vertical gap between the indented first line of each paragraph and the second line is rather distracting. If it's hard to fix the indenting, would it be easier to add an option to disable the indent, or to remove the extra gap between paragraphs? I would rather sacrifice one of those features for the sake of good line spacing. Plus, printed books don't generally have extra space between paragraphs.

@eggnog The plan to fix all of this stuff is to actually parse the html into a sort of meta format server-side which we can more easily convert on-device than generic XML/HTML. It's kind of next on the big things to do after a refresh of the manga image serving tech...

It'd be great to be able to filter the new releases by followed, or have a visual marker that a series is one that's followed.

Also been having some issues with the margin setting doing nothing on some titles - specifically been happening on "did I seriously just get reincarnated as my gag character?!" but has worked fine on other series though it doesn't seem to match the preview.

Another thing that would be nice to fix is anchoring the amount that's been read to the top paragraph on the page rather than the number of pages through the work. I often switch between using the app full view and in pop-up mode (I also do this with the website, I've only recently started trying the app and it's an issue with that, too) which causes the number of pages for the work to vary wildly as the space changes meaning I have to a) remember to check the percentage before I switch, b) stumble around to find where I was up to around that percentage

You can get a list of releases from followed series by clicking the star at the top.

@Terabyte yep, but I want it on the releases tab which has a chapter view in order of most recent release. The series tab just gives you the series and doesn't have anything to show which have or have not updated. oh durr, sorry misread your comment - thanks! Good to be able to do this. Not the most intuitive label to me, but it might just be me.

I'm guessing this has been noted but if the paragraph is long enough, screen is small enough and/or text big enough when reading a novel the paragraph will just overflow the bottom of the screen and not show the cut off text on the next page.

@Iciely Yeah, our ability to split some paragraphs is limited at the moment and sometimes it just gives up and overflows... If you need the font to be that large we recommend vertical scroll mode.

@admin unfortunately not an option because I get extremely nauseous when reading scrolling text for any length of time due to a concussion (which is also why I need the font large) unless I make a really conscious effort to blink while scrolling. I’ll just stick to the web version for now.

I tried the app in my ipad mini again, and I see most of the weird pagination and font size issues have been fixed. There's still some weird line-height and paragraph/pagination issues, but these are fairly minor.

There are some features that I want:

                              1. Similar to the "last read bookmark" idea, I want a "recently read" list. Depending on my mood and what is newly released, I skip around in my reading. It would be nice to track 3-5 most recently read items so I can read a newly released part, and then hop back to whatever I was previously reading. This would also be helpful when the app is swapped out, or when I restart the app or my device.
                              2. I want to tap the left or right edge of the screen to advance to the next page. I hold my ipad in my left hand, and this makes page turning uncomfortable: I have to make an awkward swipe with my left thumb; or reach up with my right hand to tap the screen.
                              3. I want the "Toggle page transitions" setting to work for all page transitions. The page turn animation makes me a bit seasick. Currently, this setting seems to only work for taps, and not swipes.
                              4. Thoughts on universal links? I think that's what they're called. It's the feature that lets the user tap a URL to bring up the associated app if it is installed, or the page in the browser if the app is not installed. I use the RSS feature to update a reading list with the URL of the released parts. Tapping the URL brings up the part in the browser, and I don't have to hunt for it in the app. It would be handy if the URL brings up the app to the part.

About the only thing she’d gain from participating in the exhibition match would be the grim thrill of clubbing baby seals.

Not really sure what the specifics of this would entail, but would there be a way to make the login page on the app accept password managers like Bitwarden? Currently (I'm on iOS) I have to open my Bitwarden app separately, search for my JNC info, and then copy-paste it in, but I know there are other apps that will let me auto-fill Bitwarden's info directly when I tap to enter login info. From what I can tell (aka brief Google searches) it's something to do with whether the app in question has a recognizable URI?

@MasterLillyclaw that used to not work on Android on an older version, but does work currently on Android. Do you have an up to date version?

@pcj I'm on v2.0.1 which is the newest version per the app store. I actually tried logging out and in again (maybe should've done this before asking lol) and there is a "passwords" option that pops up which will take me to Bitwarden, but I still have to manually search for JNC because it doesn't recognize my saved username/password as the correct option.

For other apps it usually mentions Bitwarden in the popup instead of just saying "passwords" (logged out and into another app to double-check and it'll say "for [app] - Bitwarden [username]"), so it seems like I'm still missing a piece to get it functioning like normal.

@MasterLillyclaw I am on iOS and use Bitwarden. I see “Passwords” in the area above the keyboard. After I tap it and it logs in with FaceID, it brings up my password database. Unlike other apps it doesn’t recognize the app as being attributed to the website j-novel.club, so I have to search it. But once I find it and click it, it auto-fills my username and password into the app.

@LegitPancake Yeah when I tried it earlier that’s how it’s working for me, would be nice if it recognized the app immediately instead of having to search for it though.

I hope this is the correct spot for this since it appears that bugs are also talked about here. This isn't the app directly but tangential to it. I can't seem to log in to the forums directly on mobile or desktop.

In the app's case (desktop is the same), when you click forums on the app, it takes you to your browser (Chrome in this case). You aren't logged in. Attempting to do so brings up the login screen but inputting the e-mail and password gets me the, "Invalid Login Credentials" error message.

Suggestion for LNs/Mangas with crafting, intelligent MCs and/or the lulz would be greatly appreciated!

The “Retry” button after a failed connection does not appear to be working.

                                            To reproduce:

                                            1. Turn Wi-Fi off
                                            2. Open the J-Novel Club app. The “failed loading” page with the “Retry” button will appear. (As expected)
                                            3. Turn Wi-Fi back on and connect to a network that can connect to J-Novel Club.
                                            4. Return to the J-Novel Club app and press the “Retry” button. The display is unchanged after pressing the “Retry” button. The J-Novel Club app won’t work until it is quit and reopened (see https://support.apple.com/guide/ipad/quit-and-reopen-an-app-ipad79518d15/ipados)

I am using version 2.0.1 of the app on an iPad.
