(New) App Feedback
-
As announced, a completely new version of the J-Novel Club app is now available! Keep in mind that there are still features missing and bugs we are aware of. When you open the app, you will be presented with a splash screen that shows a summary of those known issues, which is also available here: https://j-novel.club/app-splash. If you find an issue/bug that is not in that list, please let us know by posting here.
If you are still on the old app, you will soon start getting warnings when reading parts, and it will eventually stop functioning all together. Upgrade now!
Current build: 3.1.0+47
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=club.j_novel.butterfly
iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/j-novel-club/id1529703397List of known issues (can also be seen in the app's splash page):
- Some formatting/styling is lacking in the paginated novel reader
- Sub/superscript text doesn't display properly when font size is not 100%
- Reading progress on releases page can sometimes be inaccurate
-
Italic words show up super huge compared to the rest of the text. iOS 14.0.1 iPhone 8
-
@LegitPancake what did you set size to?
-
@chocolatkey Like 330% lol. Any smaller it’s just way too small to read. Here it is at 150%.
-
@LegitPancake aha I see. What device, what OS version?
-
@chocolatkey Can reproduce. Italic text grows bigger than normal text for each percentage increase in the font size selector. iPadOS 14.
-
Any idea for when the android version? Or a non-play store download?
-
@Khaos They said it was on Google Play beta review. From experience, that could be as short as a few hours.
-
@Khaos Waiting on Google Play approval. If it takes too long I'll just provide APKs
-
Can we get a planned feature list so we know what is already planned so it isn't suggested multiple times?
-
@Nosgoroth thanks, the italics different is a bug I'll fix, and I'll see about having it recognize larger device for larger font. Good to have tablet testers. Also plan in the future to improve tablet interface having massive tiles
-
@chocolatkey While you're around those parts, the default font size should be a saner value, it's too small. Maybe different on tablet, but I get the feeling it's going to be too small on phone too.
Is the font selector supposed to work? I don't know how to get back to the known issues to check. I need serif. Also font previews in the selector would be nice.
-
@Nosgoroth There's a "help" option you can access from any of the main screens using three dots menu. It's also linked on my first post. No, font family doesn't work yet, in progress feature
Also, re Android vers, I wouldn't get people's hopes up too much that it's going to be just a few hours, both versions were submitted Tuesday
-
@chocolatkey Oops, I failed at basic reading, sorry.
-
Also to see if anyone can reproduce it, theme layout is unclickable and rather glitched on iPhone 8. iOS 14.0.1
-
@LegitPancake I think it might be due to the screen ratio of the device. I'll be sure to test out on more simulator models for future releases and get this fixed. Not sure about why the default font size is so off though, internal beta iPhone tests seemed OK
-
@LegitPancake OS version? I'm on 13.6 and the themes work fine for me on iPhone 8.
-
Will the android version work on the Kindle Fire? As Kindles can have Goggle Play Store added to them and most apps on the play store works on it. I just want to make sure I can use that when the Play Store accepts the app.
-
@Demonskid I don't have a Kindle Fire, so I can't give you a definitive answer. We're not restricting the app, so I would assume it does, and if it's a problem in the future I'll supply APKs

Great, thanks!
