So, not sure how late I am to the party, but the direct manga sales are live, yay!
First impressions:
There's a 4k version. This computer is connected to a 4k monitor (technically a repurposed tv). So, I fired it up against the mobile version aaand... For this series, at least, I can't spot much of a difference between the mobile and 4k versions.
But then I looked at one of the images more closely, and... it's 3840 pixels tall. That's not 4k (most commonly 3840 wide x 2160 high). Not unless I mount that tv sideways... Even then, its not really sized for a 4k screen (the full size is 2701x3840, so even with a rotated screen it would be too wide to display 1:1. The aspect ratio curse strikes again!)
Now, if I had an 8k monitor on hand...
The middle ('pc') size is also oddly sized for a 4k monitor - 1801x2560, or about 400 pixels taller than my screen.
The low-res 'mobile' version is almost the perfect size for a 1440p monitor (985x1400), so honestly, that's a better pick for the PC version than the PC version is!
And then, a general gripe - if you're publishing these as epub files, why don't you make the text pages actual chapters of text? Anything that can read epubs will handle that (if you were publishing .cbz files or something I'd understand the 'images only' approach). And honestly, if I were to load one of these onto my ebook reader or tablet, I'd really appreciate the text obeying my font sizing rules rather than trying to scale a set page of text to whatever screen I happen to be reading on, even if its not the size or shape the text was laid out for.

Hello,
You published in the Boowkorm sub-forum, was that intended, or did you want to put this in suggestions and feedback?
-
@Rahul-Balaggan ...Well, I was intending to do reactions as I browsed through my new copies of the bookworm manga, but I kinda got off topic, didn't I?
Getting distracted before the end of the first post has to be something of a record for me :(
-
You’re F-ing with me right?
The title, first sentence and following content made no direct connection to any series and make it all sound as if the intended purpose from the start was direct download review.
Rather than getting distracted before the end of the post, it seems you were distracted before even posting.
Will move to support section.
When you want to do a “bookworm manga reaction” topic, feel free to open a new topic.

This is more a general manga issue, but I'm finding that it matters a heck of a lot more what program I'm using for reading the J-Novel manga based epubs; so far, my best display is using Adobe Digital Editions when it comes to getting everything to work properly for two-page viewing (seamless maps and double page images, etc.); Calibre & SumatraPDF are not handling those well at all, if I can even get a two page display it's not breaking into the correct two-page groupings.
I haven't tried doing the 'send to your kindle account' thingy, as I've never done that before, so I don't know if that would give a good viewing experience.
-
@Weasalopes You should probably post that to the other thread, since that's not really related to this series specifically...

@Weasalopes Unfortunately SummatraPDF doesn't do well with EPUB input. However if you change the file extension from .epub to .cbz .... it works great
-
@chocolatkey
I'll give that a try.
It hasn't been a problem with LNs, but given the difference in actual file content between a mainly text LN and a mainly image manga...
The contents really are different, no matter what the official file type would lead one to believe.ETA:
Meh.
No difference.
It still does the cover and a blank page as the first double page, the 2nd is the 'title page' and the second half of the two-page color spread, then the first half of the two page color spread, followed by the second half of the map of Ehrenfest City, then the first half of said map and the ToC, then Urano's background and page 006.Yeah, it's the first volume of Bookworm.
It seemed that if anything was gonna raised problems, it'd be a Bookworm title, plus that was what @Kuali was looking at; checking to see if I had the same problems as reported.Some of that I might be able to fix by going into the advance options edit thing of SumatraPDF to make it go through the file the other direction, right to left rather than left to right, but it'll still have everything thrown off by the first blank page... which Adobe Digital Editions had no problem with.
It's been a while, but I used to have software specifically for reading .cbz; have to look into that and see how that works out.

@Weasalopes
Unless you absolutely have to view it with calibre or Sumatra, you can always uncompress the epub, locate the folder with images, and compress that folder to a .zip. ANY comic/image viewer should be able to handle a .zip file...
-
@Weasalopes Running it Adobe Digital Editions 4.5.11.187303 using Windows 8 compatibility mode seems to work for me for the two page mode! Thanks for the tip.

It's wanting the two page spreads which are supposed to be two page spreads displaying properly which is the problem, not an inability to view it at all.
There's a blank page which throws off how the pages fall which doesn't bother Adobe, oddly enough.
If one removes said page, the display approaches what is desired, except for not slamming them right up next to each other with no gap; they're not displaying as gutterless images.
And again, Adobe handles that, no problem.Adobe has another problem, however. [long rant spoilered; has to do with authorizations and stupid software design]

@Weasalopes
Not sure if it's any help, but I use OpenComic viewer if I want to view a comic in two-page spread(for casual viewing I just use HoneyView, easily accessible from right-click). It's also the viewer I use for vertical scrolling(the default format I nowadays view comics on the web, less so off-line). -

That really does seem the best option using the software I've already got installed.
Bear in mind that Adobe Digital Editions has an upper limit for the number of books it will allow in your library.
I think it's 500?
Anyway, it won't let you have more than a certain number of titles in your library at one time, and it gets weird as it approaches that number, so removing stuff from its library if not reading them frequently is wise.
