I read Death March and all I can say is 'who the hell starts with immortality right of the bat in another world!!! ' (not a spoiler cuz I still think he can die, but still.....).

I enjoy that there's ('AT LAST') a normal main character who doesn't think killing is normal just because he's in another world. Don't even get me started on his nightlife even if he's be 'shipped' with a decent girl.

@beta-zephaniel I believe he starts with the Immortality (or was it Indestructible?) Skill grayed out, his only Unique Skill available at the beginning was his Menu screen.

And I on the other hand don't really mind his night scapades, I mean, the guy was like 28-yo?? A man has needs, but the girls he has around are way too young to be in his strike zone so it makes sense he'd go pick up some hookers. If anything, it makes him believable.

So yeah, I really like Death March, it's one of the better isekai stories out there, mature MC >>>>>>> high schooler MC. Satou is an OP character done right since the story is not about him trampling his way around the world, he just
wants to enjoy his hard earned vacation in another world, remember, Death March is a cooking novel, killing Demon Lord's is secondary to looking for ingredients and eating tasty foreign food. There's also the fact that he's not OP for the sake of it but going more into that would be full of spoilers.

@paulnamida Any chance JNC could pick up this title?

@paul-nebeling Yen Press has it, and the first 3 volumes are already in print: https://www.amazon.com/Death-March-Parallel-World-Rhapsody/dp/B073QYHCRV/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1513612810&sr=8-10&keywords=Death+march+to+the+parallel

Yeah, saw it at YP and might pick it up. I have mixed feelings about them since they take a year to translate 2 volumes. But oh well 😔.

I read the first three right of the bat. I can't really remember thou if they were this far apart release wise. Until now it's quite enjoyable slice of life with a little action here and there. I probably like it because Sato is an interesting character if you compare him to run of the mill isekai protagonists.

He's actually not a Neet or anything, which helps. I've seen people call him a "loser" which makes me laugh my arse off.

He was, before going to the world, a guy in a good job who was high enough to have a junior he was teaching. He had a recent girlfriend, and made good money.

He was a salaryman, but not a loser unless you stretch the definition an awful lot. :)

@hyferzftw they’re releasing three books a year (four months apart). Book 4 should be out at the end of January (although I think the release has slipped by a week already).

@shiroi-hane that’s good to hear, my fall semester ends in 2 Days so I’ll have more free time to buy/read new LNs.

Not totally certain, but are they making an anime of this LN next season?

                              Yup.

With Aoi Yuki as Arisa, which is kinda brainbreaking. Kana Hanazawa would've made more sense. I love Aoi Yuki, but she's far too hyper in general for Arisa, you need a 'serene' type VA. Well, other than when Arisa goes into pervert mode. Then I guess Aoi Yuki fits. I'll just keep waiting for her to turn her first into a drill and punch someone.

@paul-nebeling Yep, and CrunchyRoll has already announced they are simulcasting with Funi simuldubbing. Here’s the trailer, although initial impressions don’t look good for me, as the CGI looks really cheap:

@dtta but that's exactly why I love that casting, Y.Aoi is perfect for when Aria goes full pervert, and she's done serene characters like Victorique in Gosick pretty well so she can handle her when she's acting all composed. She's a perfect fit.

@paul-nebeling yes they're making an anime adaptation of the LN, I hope they don't screw it up though cuz the LN doesn't have a strong plot to it but it's a pretty fun story to read and/or watch,

@rerdey that's pretty much the norm, even overhyped anime adaptations are much better LNs, like Saga of Tanya the Evil and Overlord.

@paulnamida I would say watching the anime for "In Another World With My Smartphone -- Isekai wa smartphone to tomo ni" was about as enjoyable as the LNs, in my humble opinion. :-)
