@shrike_al I agree with this, Death March has a really long winded starting arc, they'd have to have gotten at least to the 5th Volume to set up the plot. Isekai Maou on the other hand, delivers its main points of interest from the get-go. I just hope they'll keep the MC's inner thoughts and maybe add those weird hallucinations he has in the manga lol.

@shrike_al I thought Smartphone's anime was okay, but not great. We will see how they did with IsekaiMaou next season. I'm hoping for the best.

I'm part of the crowd that thinks the Smartphone anime was okay. Like @smashman42 , I also saw the anime first and got interested from that.
That’s frankly often the best way to go, as with almost any literature adaptation you get to see all the extra detail they couldn’t fit in, rather than be annoyed about all the stuff they missed out. That’s not to say that there aren’t adaptations out that they do actually improve on the source material of course.

To throw my hat into the ring, I didn't touch the Smartphone LNs/manga but gave the anime a shot, thought it was ridiculously horrible, then vowed never to touch the books. I'm pretty sure that's how people who watch the Death March anime without any exposure to the LN/manga feel too :o
EDIT: Whoops, forgot to clarify the first part of my post was regarding Smartphone :O
Whoever said nothing's impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

At first, this post made me sad. But then I remembered I used to sorta hate Death March too before reaching the good parts.
Anyway, after reading bits of the LN, I think Isekai Maou would be the kind of series I'd prefer watching instead of reading. Although they're both fanservice-y, I think it's the opposite case of DxD which I much prefer reading.

We'll get facial expressions for Diablo's internal thoughts where he's forcing himself to stay in character - that factor could make the anime pretty good if they don't bork the whole thing.

Coincidentally, I'm currently reading volume 3 parts of the LN.

What are the sales figures for this series in Japan? I'm wondering how much correlation there is between the novels selling well and the anime being made.
What were the Japanese LN sales figures for Smartphone when it got the anime adaptation?

It's so easy for them with that, look at what Overlord did than copy it.
But to be honest they are going to mess this up hardcore, It's going to be a dumpster fire.

I've been wondering the same thing ever since the anime announcement for Isekai Cheat Magician.
I guess some are made to boost book sales (for the less popular titles) while others are made to introduce new merchandise (for the already popular titles).

Is it just me or do the character designs make all the girls seem much more thicc then in the LN
In the LN the only character I would call thicc was Shera maybe Edelgard

The fact that Klem is revealed makes me think it will adapt just the 3 volumes, which seems like a fine place to stop. -
