I Parry Everything, Dahlia in Bloom, & Vtuber Legend Anime

I haven't seen anyone else mention them, but I Parry Everything, Dahlia in Bloom, & Vtuber Legend Anime all get a anime series this summer.
So far I Parry Everything is the only one to have come out. I didn't care much for the LN, but I did read the first volume and it seems to be pretty in line with what I recall. So if you liked the series it's probably worth a watch.
-
@NakamiJun All three series were picked for this month's catchups because of their impending adaptations.
Naturally, I Parry Everything is both the only one already out and the only one I didn't like, so I don't have much to add to this discussion. Yet 😉.
-
@kuali Yeah I figured that's why they were catchups, it seems to be the pattern. ^^
Also yeah... I didn't have to much to say with only IPE out... xD
I really did like Dahlia as an LN though, & I read a bit of Vtuber Legend so I'm curious about the anime version...

I just looked at the Crunchyroll Summer Anime announcement page, and I'm disappointed that Dahlia in Bloom doesn't appear to be getting an English dub.
I've been following Failure Frame (I know it's not J-Novel) for a while, and the lack of a dub for that series is also disappointing.
Hopefully they just haven't announced the dubs yet, but I'm not holding my breath.
Now excuse me while I go check out the "I Parry Everything" pilot. Once you realize that Noor is supposed to be extremely dense, and that the Adventurer's Giuldmaster is an idiot. It's actually a fairly well written and enjoyable series.

Here for that Dahlia hype!
-
I sampled V-Tuber back when the first volume came out but I didn't get a chance to finish it. I've been hearing good things about it and it seems like it may match my sense of humour so I'll check out the anime and take this chance to read it on catch-up.
Nothing I've heard about I Parry Everything makes me want to read it and the anime is not airing on Crunchyroll so I guess I'll give this one a pass.
I read Dahlia when it was on catch-up last and loved it. So I'll check out the anime this season as well.

I enjoyed the first volume of V-Tuber, but stalled out somewhere in vol 2 - it got too far over the top for me to enjoy.

I didn’t care for the summary - made it sound too much like a typical chunni fantasy- but stopped to read it when I ran out of stuff to read shortly before the end of volume 1. And I liked it! It punches my ‘absurdist comedy’ buttons, but it works because everyone takes absurd things seriously instead of playing it like a pantomime.

I like Dahlia when it focuses on being crazy talented magical toolmaker, and on Dahlia growing and developing both as a person and as a successful businesswoman. I’m much less impressed with the romantic plot and the noble shenanigans.

Same. Hopefully, the anime doesn't focus on this part too much. They could go full cooking anime and I wouldn't mind.😜

The first episode of the Dahlia anime released today and so far it’s pretty good 😊
If you’re a lover of the LN like me you’ll enjoy it

I managed to keep up with the novels for I Parry Everything, and the first volume and a half were repetitive as hell and it was basically the same gag over and over. But then it actually got a plot and I started enjoying it from that point on. I'm hoping they condense most of the first two volumes into a couple episodes and then continue from there because the anime will be much better if they do that.
The only reason I kept reading Parry at first was because I saw the number of volumes of it that were out and I was thinking "there's no way they would have kept making more if the whole thing sucked this bad, so it must get better eventually" and indeed it did.

I watched through it myself. I definitely agree with the decision to base the first episode off of the Side Stories about young Dahlia and Carlo.
Speaking of Carlo. His character design resembles Shou Tucker from Fullmetal Alchemist. Which is totally not how I've been picturing Carlo. Maybe it's because of how they died as well as the description of Carlo, but I've been subconsciously giving him the face and body of my late Uncle Jack. Who I could best describe as having the hair and mustache of John Ratzenburger from his Cheers days, and the glasses plus build of a young Ed Asner. Uncle Jack's face was, oddly enough, somewhere between the two men's. Exact same age as John Ratzenburger though.
I also watched the first episode of I Parry Everything yesterday, and it's exactly what I was hoping for. I'd recommend giving it a shot.

First ep of Dahlia was quite good! It's a set-up episode. Lots of showing, less telling, and plenty of heartwarming moments. Maybe it's because I know where things are going but I was charmed by seeing Dahlia and Carlo. I also caught some clever foreshadowing of the greater themes.
-
I just got done watching Dahlia.... And man... They are really setting us up for the heartache when Carlo passes... I know why they did it, but... Man that's going to hurt after this kind of opener. xD
-
I think we've got at least another full episode of flashback to get caught up to where the novels started, given where they left off this episode. We have to get the new apprentice, their engagement, the creation of the invention he stole from her, Carlo's death, and then her getting dumped, which will probably be the cliffhanger at the end of the episode.
-
Vtuber Legend is out... And while I have my own personal bias as a indie vtuber... I was laughing out tears as the episode covered the thing every streamer has done: Left the audio hot.
Btw the MC really reminds me of of the vtuber Kson. While Kson has never drank (that I know of) on stream, she is known for doing whatever she wants when streaming. Something that is a bit unusual in Japanese Vtubers.

Been a long time since I read V1 but don’t we also need to deal with the waterproof cloth? Wasn’t that already done at the open of V1?
-
@sorvani Waterproof cloth is something that she develops before her father died, but it's hard to say if the anime will spend much time on it before we get to where the LN 'starts' or not.

It is pretty important to the story though, so I would assume it get at least a few minutes of air time.

Vtuber was fun. It's my first exposure to the series, so my only impressions are: sex jokes lol! Yuri bait ooh la la! Is this a clever ad for StroZero? Probably.
To Alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems.

They've established she's been making magic tools since she was young, so with a time skip they don't need to show her working through every invention. They do need to establish she's done a ton of research on slimes, because the insoles are slime tech. But will they spend more than a montage on waterproof cloth? Even a bare mention would suffice. Or we get half an episode of slime research. We'll find out!

Geez... Episode 2 of I Parry Everything is painfully reminding me of the levels of stupid I had issues with in the LN...
