Ascendance of a bookworm is over.

I am sad.

Indeed and there isn't anything like it to fill the void!
-
Aye... I feel a sadness come over me

For the last several years I've eagerly awaited the weekly releases. I would often refresh the page at the very moment it was uploaded.
No story has ever caused me to do anything like this, print or otherwise. This is truly a bittersweet day. I'm not sure I'll ever devote as much time and/or attention to another title again.
Big kudos to the author for such a great story with well written characters and rich world building.

It ended rather well. I do kind of wonder who charlotte and wilfried marry but thats a minor detail. Otherwise it ended cleanly. Much like how Solo Levelling did.

I still can't believe it's over. It took me 2 hours to realize that. I had to reread the afterword and check it with wiki and all to confirm my fears. It is a bittersweet end in my opinion. I wanted to see a little bit more slice-of-life at the end. Maybe one more installment or part. Just suddenly cutting there with Myne visiting her family. And not even from her or Ferdinand's perspective! It really left me unsatisfied.
But! I saw from another post that there apparently will be a sequel! I'm not 100% sure when and if it is true but the author apparently posted something on X. I just desperately hope that it will not take years to be translated to English.

Here to commiserate. My favorite series of all time, the light of every Monday for years, and now it's over. I remember sobbing at the adoption of Myne into Rozemyne, and now I'm sobbing over the return of Myne. The series was so full of great, piecemeal world building and incredible characters that I always wanted to see more of, but after 33 volumes it really started to become bloated with characters. I mean, when was the last time Rosina was even mentioned? Or anything with the Italian eatery? Sometimes I will talk about this series with people who have no idea about it and I will go on and on and on, and I wish that I could sit with the author and hear them go on and on and on about every little detail of the characters. I will miss them all very much.

I'm really sad too :(
I was first introduced to the world of Bookworm when the first season of the anime came out on Crunchyroll back in 2019, 5 years ago already. Before the second episode was over, I was already looking for the light novel series, buying each physical book as they came out and rereading the previous books while waiting for each new one. Then I was buying the BookWalker ebooks as well, just to give the series more sales out of fear of it being cancelled before its time. Finally, in February of 2020, I joined you fine folks here reading weekly and I could never look back at those months of waiting between publications of my favourite series the same way again.
Reading the final chapter today was so very sad. Not because sad things were happening in the story (in fact I think this is the happiest possible ending for Myne and everyone important), but just because it's always sad to say goodbye.
I'll still look forward to the side stories and whatnots but it won't be the same as seeing what antics our beloved book gremlin is getting up to as the Aub of Alexandria, how Kamil warms up to having an overbearing but doting second sister, etc, etc, etc. I can definitely see more to their stories after this, but at the same time, I can see why this would make a good stopping point.

@MeriaThePigeon well the issue is Bookworm is so popular that she is to busy to find time to write.
I think the only thing we will have for quite a while is a couple of collections of short stories.

@bxpre0 I really wanted to read Ferdinand smile, a real one. I wanted to learn more about the library and magic tools. I wanted her to invent more products in her new Dutch. I wanted her to come first in class again. Sigh... I'm so so very sad. 😭

I said as much in the thank you card thread, but.. this series has seen me through many life changes, good and bad. I remember coming here to comment on parts of volume two or three I think, not long after losing my mom and needing something, anything, to distract myself from it all. And again, when I lost my dad a couple years later.
Then there are times when I've been traveling and had to stop and do time conversions in my head to figure out when locally that week's part would post. I have a good mind for time zones but that's always an adventure just the same.
For 5 years now, with few misses, I've been sitting down at 5PM on Mondays - with a drink in hand if possible - to read a new part of bookworm and to offer my thoughts and read the thoughts of my fellow readers here.
I don't think it's really sunk in yet that come next Monday, I won't be doing that.
-
@xdrfiredogx yes. Mondays were always great. I remember after the 3rd episode I was hooked. I couldn't wait and I saw somewhere that I could read up on it on this website.
I am not a Manga reader I don't care for it in the slightest but I was so in love with the anime I decided to read the Manga. Imagine my delight to find it was a light novel! So I binged the first few books one day, then sadly was all caught up to the release date the next. And sense then, I eagerly waited every week to read this one light novel. I'm sure maybe there's some other great stuff on this website but I subscribed and became a member only to read this. I tried reading other stuff but none of them were as well written and captivating at this in my opinion.
So many times I've thought how I gotta stay alive to read the next release lol one of the greatest stories I have ever read. If anyone knows where to buy hardcover copies please tell me.

So, I wonder how Quof will handle the recoil of the the bookworm express train pulling into the final station...
-
A most satisfying ending.

@Mabbinitials I got most of mine (paperbacks only so far) from rightstuff (now crunchyrole) and a few from amazon (not recommended, as they mangle books). I think Barnes & Nobel carries them here in the US if you want a brick and mortar store. not sure if any other bookstore does

J-Novel Club has only released the series in softcover. Hard covers do not exist in English for Bookworm.
-
@GeorgeMTO I gotta wait for the hardcovers to release.
