Um... I think I found an issue guys...
-
So I looked at the summary for Outbreak Company and began to smile. I figured that I’d give it a try for a sample and then see if I wanted to continue...
so why when I download the sample for Outbreak Company volume 1 did it give me 223 pages of Infinite Dendrogram volume 2? Some of you might think I am joking, but I kid you not and I even have pictures to prove my truthfulness... I just want to know why it gave me a full book for a sample for a series I’m not even looking at... -
Is that on Amazon or? (samples on this site don't work that way, no downloading & no full books) The team will need to know to do anything about it.

I'd send a message to support too (I think there's contact info on the site somewhere...).

@smashman42 @Terrence I literally just downloaded the sample off of the iTunes iBook store... Is this some kind of weird promotional thing where they give you something different and tell you to suck it up and be a man?
...
I just wanna read a funny story... -

That's the one thing I can't test right now on my phone, lol. I'd totally take Dendrogram volume 2 for frees though. xD
Amazing and Kobo were fine by the way. Both were Outbreak Company V2.
Edit: Oh, V1? I'll try that. Edit 2: Those are both Outbreak Company as normal too on Kobo and Amazon. So just iBooks is weird I guess.
-
@terrence Well I followed the link provided to me from this site to OP volume 1, so maybe that’s how you get your free copy. Just get to it quick before they fix the glitch.
-
@terrence Did you get your free copy?

Nah. I'd have no device to play it on anyways, ha ha (except PC maybe? Bleh). Already starting at some "free" Japanese language novels this week from Bookwalker JP's now fixed coin up glitch. O.o
But I hope they fix your glitch.
-
@terrence It’s not like I even bought OBC yet, so I haven’t really lost anything yet. Hey, maybe I’ll get a free book for letting them know the issue exists. Maybe it’ll be OBCV1!
-
Yup we'll be fixing this shortly... Sorry about the "issue"!
-
@sam-pinansky Gratzi Grande Monseur. I’ll be sure to delete the file I ended up with. Please let me know once the glitch is resolved and again thank you for looking into it.
-
See, they'll have upsold you on Dendro now, cause Vol 2 without Vol 1 is pretty useless, but you got Vol 2 for free so.... :P
Both of these series I'm buying the premium ebooks direct from here for rather than just reading the member only prepubs, highly recommend both even though they are wildly different.
Outbreak Company is pretty funny, it has bits of serious scatted through it of course, but the MC, supporting cast, and premise itself are great. (just don't think too hard about Myusel's leg on the front cover of Vol 1) If you've seen the anime, the books are the original & the anime did everything way out of order.
Edit: Oh, for in the future, the first part of the 'prepubs' on here is much, much longer than the Amazon samples, so you might find they are longer than the iBooks samples too.
-
@sam-pinansky So I’m going to try purchasing the book from iBooks. If it gives me Infinite Dendrogram, can I get a refund?
-
@oathkeeper95 If you end up receiving a copy of Infinite Dendrogram instead of Outbreak Company just message Apple from their support and say you received an incorrect book and you would like a refund Apple will refund it.
For what it is worth it is more worthwhile to get a premium edition from the website because then you have a DRM free copy and can still read it in iBooks as well as any other reading app of your choice.

Really now? Well I didn’t know it could be used for every device after pu rchase... maybe I’ll get that version than.

I think it should also be mentioned that the premium ebooks here on J-Novel have exclusive content that Amazon and iBooks dont have. If you look here https://forums.j-novel.club/post/2239, you will see what JNC has in their premium books that no one else has. Also no taxes, and like its been said, DRM free. In Dendrogram's case, the ebooks from JNC has exclusive short stories.
-
@legitpancake what if I already bought the volume of a book that has extra content on iBook but then decide I want the extra content? Do I need to pay the full amount of the premium point to get just those extra bits?
-
@legitpancake just realized that Outbreak Company is only a penny cheaper than the cost of a credit... guess I know now where I’m buying my J-Novel Club books from...
-
@oathkeeper95 yes, only the premium editions contain bonus content such as short stories, textless illustrations, translators notes, interviews with the author, special pin up images.
Also another thing of note is that the premium edition have significantly higher image resolution.
-
@oathkeeper95 What you buy outside J-Novel is not connected to your account here, so yes, you'd need to buy them all over again if you REALLY wanted that extra content. Outbreak Company's bonus content is only some textless illustrations, which probably aren't worth buying again. As for the short stories, they are usually funny, but almost never important to the central plot, and so you can usually get by not reading them. I personally only read the prepubs (usually) and so miss out on most premium content.
