And so after 5 long years, the 2nd season of the anime is released. And let me be honest, there have been some changes.
Changes include voice actors but more crucially the design of the characters.
So let us hear your thoughts if you have caught the 2nd season. Has it caused you to enjoy the catch up of the light novel or made you read the manga?

@custodes gotta say I don't like the new character designs. I know they are closer to the manga but they're all so...cutesy. Yu is a damn travesty.
Still, as I'm a huge fan of Olgan's arc of course I'll continue to watch.
Now we just need vol 9 and 10 translated...

I’m sorry to say I found the changes very off-putting. I wasn’t able to finish the first episode of this new season. I was really looking forward to this, so that was really disappointing.
Back to waiting for the next volume of the light novel, I guess.

Found the new art style a little too cutesy and stayed up late last night checking episodes of the previous season to compare
Will still watch because the Luna x Eagle arc is my favorite in the series so far.

@Lily-Garden I wish I shared your optimism that the arc could make up for all the changes from the original anime's season 1. However, like you I'm going to continue to watch at least one more episode in hopes that things will improve. If not, then I'm applying the "3 episode and out" rule.

So after episode 4 (not counting episode 1 which was a recap for the 3 episode rule), I think I will probably watch the remainder of the season. The art style is definitely a deterioration compared to season 1. Yu went from a very femme fatale style which matched her to a tee to, I actually do not know what to describe it as.
A few minor changes, but I am reasonably happy that the general themes from the novel are there.

"Cute teen-ager"? She is definitely softened and looks a bit younger. I miss sultry adult dangerous Yu :( .
I'm also not fond of the cutesy superdeformed yelling faces bits, but I'm enjoying it enough to keep watching.

@HarmlessDave I raised the alarms on the Demon lord retry R once it was announced because every second season of a Futabasha IP is usually worse than the first season in the terms of script wise and animation quality wise. look at the Fruit of evolution anime season 2 vs season 1 as a example

Sigh, indeed. Thankfully Hanashi has kept up the quality of the Fruit LNs, and volume 10 will be out on the 29th.
