Well then, I don‘t think there will be anything of interest for me, but nonetheless I‘m still exited. It‘s a bit weird if I think about it. Maybe it‘s the thrill of not knowing what to expect.

JNC almost always manages to surprise me with at least one series that I end up liking, so new announcements is good announcements :)

I hope something from my wishlist will get licensed.

I‘m quite exited for the new licenses. Hopefully there is something among them I really would like to read.

I wouldn't have thought it, but surprisingly there actually seems to be something for me this time, although it unfortunately isn‘t anything from my wishlist. I saw the raws of the manga Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat some time ago and found it quite interesting. I will definitely give it a try, though it remains to be seen whether it's really something for me and whether the novel will also catch me.

Completely missed this until seeing today's glut of new titles since I used to get updates from the Twitter account. Hard to do that from Bluesky.

The Hero-Killing Bride looks as though it might be interesting but it's getting late here now so I'll have a look tomorrow.

EDIT: Yup, I'll definitely follow that one.

Unless I'm missing something (I'll check when they post the recap here), so far the only title I'm thinking of trying is Pens down, swords up.

This was the first series announcement I participated live. It was fun.
Pens down, swords up and Imperial reincarnation seem interesting and I will definitely give them a try.
I am also super happy to hear that Hannelore has been licensed and they have the materials. I expect it to start some time next year after SSC2 is translated and the team takes a year end break.

@Lex If you liked Lazy Dungeon Master then you should read Knock Yourself Out! The Goddess Beat the Final Boss in the Tutorial, So Now I'm Free to Do Whatever

Though technically a person doesn't have to read or know anything of Lazy Dungeon Master to enjoy this work, there are references and such that give you nice "aha!" moments if you have read the previous series.

@morbelek didn't notice it was from the same author. I liked Lazy Dungeon Master, but for the new series I'm seeing the gender bender tag (which I'm assuming also implies yuri) which isn't to my liking.

@Lex Yeah, there is significant yuri already in the beginning of the first couple of chapters.

@morbelek I didn't realise it was the same author, definitely going to read it, now. That goddess from the synopsis... don't think I need more than one guess for that one.

Having now read all of the new titles...
                                    I'm following all of them.
I haven't pre-ordered any as of yet, outside of From Villainess to Healer; I'd already purchased the manga, after all.
Anyway, it's unusual for me to actually attempt all the new titles.
Even more unusual to decide to follow all of them, at least provisionally.

There are a couple that are on the edge, where it will really depend upon how the story develops.
On the flipside, I feel they're all at least well written.
If I cease following any it will be because they just aren't my bag after all, not because I consider them garbage.
(I differ between utter trash and garbage; some utter trash is still enjoyable. Garbage...is garbage.)

@Geezer-Weasalopes Just a small question, what does following a title do? I‘m following all the titles I buy, but so far I didn‘t notice anything.

@Silver-Sugar-Duchess mostly relevant for the calendar page (but also to a lesser extent the series page) you can filter it to only see the series you are following. On the calendar it will also highlight them, making it more noticeable that an important (to you) release is coming up.

I think the app also lets you filter the new released parts for followed series only as well, but I don't use the app so less certain.

@GeorgeMTO Ah, okay, so this is how it works. I thought I would get a mail when a new volume for a series I’m following gets released. Thanks for the explanation.

So far... well, I'm following all of them, but not without several reservations.

                                            • Pens Up, Swords Down: I like stories about smart people being smart, but all the replay tales of Japanese cram-school were just dull. It reminds me of The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt - only that one's far more entertaining. Giving it at least another couple parts to see if it improves.

                                            • Hero-Killing Bride: Crapsack worlds are normally a big turn-off, but I'm actually enjoying this one so far. Well-written and there's enough irony so far to keep the crapsack from crapping out.

                                            • Imperial Reincarnation: Prince Herscherik did "young reincarnated prince" much better. This one's pretty boring so far. Again, I'll give it another couple of parts to see if it improves.

                                            • Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The extended training is pretty cliche, but I like her snark - and her mother's reaction is chef's kiss. :)

                                            • From Villainess to Healer: Stereotypical otome villainess start, Yet Another MMO Background, but the writing is clever enough to save it so far.

                                            • Too Young for the Adventurer's Guild: As someone else said, congrats to the way they played out the 'overly trusting kid' trope. The stuff with Waine is not handled as well as I'd like, but hopefully that'll improve.

                                            • Knock Yourself Out: Yeah, it's pretty obviously written by the Lazy Dungeon Master author. Unfortunately, so far it doesn't have any of the stuff I liked best about LDM - the clever problem-solving in the dungeon battles and Keima's scheming. And there's too much of the lazy attempts at humor. Giving it another couple of parts.

                                            • Shannon Wants to Die: Not really liking the way Kyle is being set up as the innocent country hick companion, but Shannon herself is fun.

                                            • Meals Made to Order: I really like the commenter who compared Francheska to a cross between Campfire Cooking's Mukohda and the Enchanted Forest Chronicle's Cimorene. Loving the story so far. :)

So... None terrible, none really spectacular so far, but all with at least some potential.

...Cats are the proof of a higher purpose to the universe.
