A lot of people mention watching "the subscription stream". What is that? I can't find a link that mentions that anywhere on the j-novel.club main website, and if it's something that appeared in a message, I didn't see it.

It's interesting that so much is being discussed, though... it would be helpful to know WHAT is being discussed.

        Is there a link, please?

It was on YouTube, here you go

replying to the original subject of the thread : I've mentioned previously that I'd like to see the website/homepage have more content: we don't have a 'newsletter' , an official source if industry news (what cons will jnovel club attend), what are coming attractions ? certainly a 'recommended reading' would be in line with that

          I read banned books

It might be interesting to have not just a "these are good, here's why" recommended list, but also separate lists of "if you like this, you might like these" posts, like the topics people create asking what to read after Bookworm, Tearmoon, Apothecary, etc.

Running the numbers, the new super-premium still makes sense for me since I use up all my Premium coins and buy another 15,000 or so each year, making the "rental fee" for prepubs and the new library only about $5 a month.

@Geezer-Weasalopes @lily-garden So, it's not something published on the j-novel.club website, or even linked to by them?

For a big change like this to not be mentioned anywhere on their actual site is a bit unfortunate.

indeed, the (EDITED TO ADD: lack of) 'how the club works' communications have been a sore spot - and communication in general about administration and feature changes etc have been an ongoing source of frustration as a member. I get that (as a business) JNC can't always show all their 'cards' in contract Terms and conditions with content creators and what is being negotiated etc. but certainly once something is baked and rolling out NEXT WEEK a link to to the announcement on the homepage, heck, the details on the homepage (charts, FAQs etc) should be up already

I am looking at the math for the Premium Club membership...if you are already on the old premium membership, there is actually no reason to switch??

                    With the new premium club:

                    • You pay $12 more per year
                    • You get an extra 1200 coins

But if I stay on the old Premium membership, and use $12 to buy coins, I will get 1333 coins compared to 1200?

                    Does my math check out?

@daytona Indeed, if you flip your understanding of the "free" coins into a minimum required purchase of (discounted) coins per month that's baked into the price, the legacy yearly premium is $1.20 cheaper.

(Edit: Of course, if you plan to buy even just 12 books without buying any more, and want access to prepubs, both the old and new premiums have always been a bargain over the old and new regular prepub subscriptions, at least yearly. In that sense, the new Premium Club is actually about $3 cheaper than the old Premium on top of being $8 cheaper than a yearly Club subscription)

My talking sword has a point. And is also right.

So is it sure that we still get the 699 coins with the old Premium subscription. I find it strange that I find for all the new ones the info (although seriously JNC, why do I get no info what entitles what when I want to update my subscription).

So if I get it right I lose the old Catchup (as this is now only in some tiers in the new one) and still get my 699 coins? Also I can read the part releases? Or do I also lose this?

And as an addendum? Whoever though it would be nice to call the old one "J-Novel Club Premium Membership" and the new one "J-Novel Premium Club Membership". I already see the confused people who mix them up in questions.

@saskir The only changes you should see on your existing subscription are:

                          • No more monthly catch-up volumes
                          • The coin purchase discount drops from 15% to 10%

So you still have access to books in their pre-publication period, a discount (albeit a smaller one) on coin purchases, and 699 free coins each month (though the increase in book prices means you won't get a full book a month anymore).

It will become less confusing going forward because you can't get onto the premium membership anymore unless you were on it when they did the switchover last night. New subscribers can only get the premium club membership and once anyone on the legacy plan moves off of it, they lose the ability to go back to it. And it's probably only like that because that's what the name of the plan was originally. The addition of the word "Club" is basically part of their name standardization so people can easily tell what the plan includes (ie, Club indicates access to pre-pubs the way subscriptions worked before and Reader indicates access to the new reader catalogue)

@kuali Thanks for the clarification. Seems I will stay with my old subscription then and simply buy more coins when I need them.

Yeah in this you are right but I already see old members asking "Why am I only getting 699 coins when everyone else gets 799, I am in Premium Club". Just switching the naming makes for confusion.
