@Ginger_Walnut-0 Interestingly part of the reason for this membership change is because setting up the catchups was a lot of work for staff every month and their internal data showed almost no one was taking advantage of them.

To be fair, I've seen posts in the Light Novel Discussion forum from new visitors confused about only being able to read the latest prepubs instead of the whole series.

Being able to read Zero Believers volume 11 isn't so useful to someone who hasn't read 1-10 :)

They expected Netflix's whole TV series not that Hulu thing of only being able to see recent episodes of a network TV show. The Reader library gives them Netflix for the 50 series.

Meanwhile, I got a second mail, mostly identical to the first, stating that the new plans are now live. I wonder if this time they sent it to everyone like should've been from the beginning.

Still none for me, and they have the correct address since I get the coins purchased confirmation mails.

JNC staff have now made a post regarding the changes

“There’s always a story. It’s all stories, really. The sun coming up every day is a story. Everything’s got a story in it. Change the story, change the world.” ― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

There is a new plan J-Novel Premium Club Membership which is $1 USD more expensive that's exactly the same except that it gives 799 coins a month instead of 699 coins a month to deal with the price increase for the LN volumes.

And assuming you use your free coins, the effective cost for your Premium Club Membership works out to the same as it was before once you deduct the cost of the free book.

@Lex Since the bottom of the email has options to update your preferences or unsubscribe, this was likely sent out via their newsletter again, so only people who've signed up for that would have gotten it.

You technically save $1.20 a year if you stay on the legacy premium membership and buy the extra coins at the new 10% discounted rate, although that difference is pretty much negligible.

Yes, my statement was just referring to the cost of the service after converting coins to a discount from the cost of the service ($0.01 per coin).

Sounds like it; I didn't get this one either.

...Cats are the proof of a higher purpose to the universe.
