Xenoblade 2 looked ok, but a quick look like that isn't really going to sell me on anything. I'm curious how much of the go anywhere / stand on anything nature will carry on from X. One of the trailers showed that the game will be English voice only. Disappointing.

Glad to see Rocket League on Switch, but sad I won't be able to play with those Nintendo friends there since Sony decided against crossplay.

No Monster Hunter XX Switch announcement was disappointing.

So good showing. I still want more of the C tier franchises like Wario, Sin + Punishment, StarFox, FZero, Golden Sun, and the like to show up. Platinum and From Soft's development on Switch remains a mystery.

Yeah, I played 999 first (bought it with Red Dead Redemption, and thought 999 was the better story experience), then watched playthroughs of the Infinity series on YouTube (in order, starting with Never 7).

I tried out Away (first person anime inspired rogue like). It's still very early in development (out at the end of the year), but I gave them feedback on hit detection. One other guy mentioned wanting a mini map, which I wouldn't mind, though the world isn't that big I guess, but there was a sort of "find the three caves to unlock one" goal that if you have a bad sense of direction, you could easily enter the same one twice (they have the same flag markings it seemed, and general look).

In terms of the issues with Switch in the news, I'm not so bothered about the dead pixel issue due to EU requirements for distance selling. However, it is pretty bad that there is no way to backup games at present so hope that it is resolved soon.

Yeah, I've played a fair few PC VNs (F/SN, Tsukihime, etc) and have a fair few on my 'to play' list (although some haven't been translated yet last I checked). I also enjoy non-interactive VNs from time to time like Planetarian (which I'd recommend) and of course the classic point & click adventures (Monkey Island, etc).

My favorite VN type games were probably the first two Zero Escape games on 3DS / Vita which are getting remade on PC + PS4 (9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors, Virtue's Last Reward) and Ever17.

Ever17 is pretty interesting. Definitely want to check out 999 and VLR at some point. If you haven't played it yet then Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is definitely worth consideration.

On the Switch, the Virtual Console games will have added online multiplayer, so that's something to look forward to maybe if it works as expected (hoping for Secret of Mana; that'd be amazing to play with other people like Dark Souls).

Online multiplayer? Sweet.

Funded and Vita goal funded. I am kind of exhausted after this rollercoaster of emotions it's been. So many, mistakes have been made over the campaign and there's so many confusions and misunderstandings between the Japanese and the PR company over the entire campaign. Probably the worst start of a Kickstarter campaign that I've ever seen and that's with even a Prefundia. The stretch goals left us in disarray for a day or two and the sour feeling that this was meant to be so much more is lingering.

It certainly has been a definitive wild ride.

I would consider it to be a medium of its own. Not all stories are books. TV and movies are their own mediums, and games too.

I keep track of my visual novels on howlongtobeat.com. It won't count towards your Goodreads goal, but it's a nice site for cataloging your completed, backlogged and currently playing games and VNs, and you can create one custom tab, which I use for visual novels.
