I'm guessing this is physical copies and not digital ones. That's ok da what it sounds like to me but I might be wrong. The entire post was both misleading and confusing.

So I checked Amazon Japan and found only 13 volumes, the last having been published on 12/14/19. So unless the author picked the series back up and is writing again starting at volume 14, then I guess that is it. It doesnt make sense to me though to change publishers all of a sudden for established series here in the US. Something seems off here.

Just came across this https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-11-08/square-enix-launches-new-light-novel-label-with-9-titles-including-3-titles-from-earth-star-entertainment/.166084
Is it just change of ownership or publishing right for the series in Japan? And what if any effect will it have on your license for the series? This was one of the more satisfying license announcements you guys made for me personally and even though I have yet to get around to starting the series (along with other titles you guys have) I immediately got worried of any negative effects this would have on you guys with the title. If anyone on the staff could allay my fears it would be greatly appreciated.

@King-of-the-End
A reasonable fear as well as a reasonable request, I too would like too hear an answer on that front. -

This announcement seems like it came out of the blue, and it's possible JNC learned about it at about the same time as we did. If they're trying to find out what's going on from the prior and new owners, it's not like they can tell us anything more than 'we just found out, we're talking to them about what happens next.'

It's probably fine. My understanding is that technically, each volume is licensed individually anyways so it has nothing to with any of the existing 13 volumes. The one snag would be that the process of getting the license - as well as the cost, potentially - is likely a bit different since it's a new publishing line. So if it really is a continuation and J-Novel wants it, there might be a delay in getting it and the price might be higher but there isn't anything actually preventing it.
Even if they intend to use a different English publisher for titles down the road, they would still likely keep this one separate because of the existing licensing and volumes. That tends to be more of an issue with anime anyways, from what I've seen.

I may be wrong but this seems almost like a license rescue. Or possibly a contract dispute between author-san and the old publisher.
If the article is saying that volume 14 onwards will be under SqEn's publisher with nearly a year since V13 came out then we may have been witness to the series cheating death.
I hope there isn't going to be any changes to the english publication. I love the series, even if I'm 2 books behind. -
@jampodevral
That would be nice if that us indeed the case. Hopefully there won't be any issues going forward. And since we're on volume 10 now, it would be a while before we got to 14 so they might be able to work things out ahead of time. And since they are a new publisher, we stand a better chance of them working with JNC I think because they will most likely welcome the business if they are a start-up. At least inthjnk they would anyway. -
If I recall correctly wasn't it mentioned in one of those threads for the volumes that the main series ended with Volume 11 and the subsequent new volumes were more stories from the same world (meaning Veight would not be the MC anymore). Or do I recall something incorrectly?

@saskir
Apparently it is starting back up again and continuing with volume 14 with a different publisher. -
We have gotten confirmation from earthstar that our rights for the novels 1-13 are fine, however we will need to negotiate with square enix for rights to volumes they will publish.
Hopefully that won't be too difficult!

They got their own English publishing operation last year under their own imprint, hopefully they honor their promise from then that they'll continue licensing to other North American publishers...
